Just an FYI. For those saying we need to end impeachment now so the Senate can get on to passing the COVID relief bill.
- The COVID relief bill is not ready for a vote.
- The Senate is scheduled to go into recess for a week:

- Witnesses were called in the Clinton impeachment
- Democrats tried to call witnesses in Trump's first impeachment, but were voted down
- The rules allow for the calling of witnesses today
- Witnesses would be deposed on recorded video, which could then be played to the Senate.
EDIT: LOL. Even Romney is OK with calling witnesses

Look at how they dragged that one out. How long did they have Hillary up to testify? How many sessions did they hold?
I keep reading here that we should end the impeachment trial without witnesses. That there are many other ways to get to the bottom of what happened on Jan 6th. What are those many other ways? Or is that just a 'talking point' to let the Repug Senators off the hook?
We have a spotlight on the stage of this impeachment trial right now. The whole country is glued to their TV's watching the proceedings now.
We'll lose momentum if we end this today - especially - with an acquittal.
We haven't really heard as much as a peep out of Tr**p since Jan 20th.
Do you think if he's acquitted that he'll just disappear from existence never being heard from again?
No - he'll be out there as soon as the verdict is in the Congressional Record - claiming that he's been exonerated and he'll rear his ugly head - so that he'll be front in center in our lives going forward.
We need to prevent that from happening. We need to call witnesses. Put him and the rest of the Repug Senators under a spotlight and make them very, very uncomfortable. So uncomfortable that they realize the only way out for them is to 'convict' Tr**p and rid themselves of him once and for all.

"Do you think if he's acquitted that he'll just disappear from existence never being heard from again? "
Do you think if he's convicted that he'll just disappear from existence never being heard from again?"
Nope. Conviction isn't the magic wand that many seem to insist it is and it would only ramp up the bullshit from Trump. Conviction would accomplish nothing other than (possibly) preventing him from running again, and that chance almost assuredly ended on January 6th. It certainly wasn't going to hold him accountable for anything.
The only way to hold him accountable is for some jurisdiction to indict and prosecute him. That was always the only way he would be held accountable.
Save the witnesses for the civil and criminal cases and hope that they transpire.
