(21,304 posts)Labyrinth to watch with my children. The protagonist had a passage to say to the Goblin King when she met him-
Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great...
But could not remember the last line. Finally when she did meet him, she remembered-
You have no power over me.
While not a direct parallel, the point was the Goblin King only had whatever power she gave him.
If I hate Trump (or anyone else) I am giving them power over me.
If someone says or does something worthy of a reaction, I react then move on. If it it simply banal, empty words I snort derisively and move on.

I'm allergic to bee and Hornet stings.
The Predecessor's existence is like a hornet versus a bee.
Bees have intrinsic value to my existence even though they could cause my death.
Hornets are things to be sprayed.
It is a Hornet.

(34,420 posts)Hate does not come close, there are so many facets to a good hate. There IS a good hate if it motivates you to work for what is right for others. Otherwise it is just there eating away at you but it is a fine word with the MF former guy.

(12,730 posts)shooting lava balls onto Trump Towers and properties world wide, as well as a football stadium sized chunk of asteroid striking Mar A Shithole at 17,000 MPH, while he and his entire gene pool are inside listening to Kimberly Guilfoyle screaming 'we've only just begun' seconds before asteroid impact.
Other than that, I have no feelings one way or the other...

(32,163 posts)I do not hate him. I have nothing but contempt for him. I have zero respect for the man. He is a liar, a con man, a person without ethics, integrity or concern for anyone but himself. He deserves to be humiliated and remembered as the worst president in our history.

(10,411 posts)It's what he wants.
The media (and law enforcement) will keep an eye on him for all of the crazy he's clearly trying to foment. But that doesn't mean I have to engage about him every single day. I see no point in it. I mostly ignore any threads about him. I just don't care. Attention is what he craves above all.
Pass.

(7,612 posts)I used to, but then I heard an explanation similar to that expressed above. When you hate someone it controls you more than does anything to them.
I'm just tired of hearing about the guy TBH

(9,942 posts)It's definitely beyond the word hate.
More accurate words that I would use would be repulsed, revulsion, contempt and possibly hostility, but even then these words are tame for what I feel.
He, his enablers and cult has caused so much trauma and harm that it feels impossible to identify.

(43,613 posts)Four years of Trump certainly did test that theory.
EndlessWire
(7,303 posts)who sexually harassed me my entire childhood. I diligently taught myself to wish for a functional family, and not to "hate" as I understood it then. He was still grooming me even after I left home, and he never gave up. I gained nothing and suffered a lot because of my youthful, do-right attitude toward a person who was evil.
I get it when people say that the word "hate" is not enough to describe what they feel, or that they prefer some word that encompasses some lesser degree of loathing. And, I totally believe that hate will hurt you, make your body unhealthy, and will slow you down in your quest for the perfect soul. But, damn, I hate Trump, his kin, his friends, his political allies, his wife's Christmas decor, and everything else that reminds me of Trump. I promise to work on it, but I still voted Yes. Voting Yes made me feel better.

(17,453 posts)When someone asks, what do you think of Trump? I want to Abe able to say, I dont. That probably wont happen until justice is served on his sorry ass. So, in the meantime, to be honest, yes, I hate his guts.

(11,730 posts)The fact that Trump hasn't been dragged before a Nuremberg-style court, tried and sentenced for the deaths of nearly 600,000 Americans deeply depresses me. His continued existence proves there's no justice in this country.

(121,648 posts)on that ridiculous person. Although I kind of hope he eventually fries in Hell, at this point I just sort of pity him. He's overwhelmed with rage and envy and his life must suck. What I really want is to not hear about him at all.

(43,060 posts)I hate what he does, yes. I despise what little character he has. He's an amoral little pissant who never should have been put in charge of anything beyond picking up trash. But I can't go all the way to saying I hate him (may be my Methodist upbringing).

(38,726 posts)Trump just by being honest, would have saved tens of thousands of lives......But he was dishonest and said the pandemic was a "hoax"...If Trump had talked to other world leaders, and believed them, and not himself, (and his hoax lie) , he would have saved thousands and perhaps tens of thousands of lives...
........So, in my mind, Trump by lying is a killer...Yes, I hate Donald Trump!! and I hate him with a vengeance ..............
.....................total vengeance!!!!...By not finding out the ....truth about a problem...(which is his job),
Donald Trump led to the deaths of thousands of people....tens of thousands of people...through a total lie........

(102,630 posts)But now that he's not president anymore, he no longer scares me. What scares me now is that they have someone younger, who is more charismatic, and knows how to manipulate social media, that embraces MAGA and America First ideals, running for president.
Just like that Atlantic article, Trump is just the beginning. Things will get far worse in the coming decades. The GOP will fine tune their message and be able to manipulate social media better. Trump is an example of what *NOT* to do.

(18,969 posts)covid lies = unnecessary illness, and deaths, dog whistling to out right calling up the vilest racists, and sexist (usually) men, greed, and stealing, kissing up to Putin, etc.
Turning the Repugs into fascists and now extreme voter suppressionists which lasts beyond his pResidency!
OTOH, luckily I have a lot of interests, joy, wonderment, fun, good family & friends to occupy my mind, emotions, and spirit to lift me up, and shut off the hate. 👍💖
he doesn't take up space in head, I haven't got room for hate. 🤔
