(10,220 posts)that it has been received. Getting stressed. It's never taken this long to get the update.

(4,210 posts)collected my ballot and got a text on 8/23 that my ballot had been received and counted! Voted no to the recall, of course.

(10,220 posts)This has never happened in the 30+ years I've been voting by mail.

(3,416 posts)status is not inactive. They never could explain how it happened, but my status had been flagged inactive. The registrar re-activated my voter status and my vote was then counted. Hope this helps. I mailed my NO ballot on Friday 20th and BallotTrax sent me a text on Tuesday 24th saying my ballot was received and my vote was accepted.

(10,220 posts)one; that I can go and vote using a provisional ballot but I could not find anything online about a "returned lost ballot" only one that was never received in the first place so I called back and this person said "No you can't do that". So if they never receive my ballot then I'm basically shit out of luck.

(3,416 posts)the registrar again tomorrow and get the name of the person you are speaking with
.then explain the situation and ask them what you need to do. Tell them you are writing down what they are telling you so you can do exactly what they are advising. Then let us know what steps you are advised to take. We should be able to figure this out so that you dont have to venture out to re-cast your vote in person. Its a pain, but its worth the effort. You really should have heard something by now, so its best we figure it out now. We cannot allow you to be shit out of luck.
Worse case, if possible, could you vote in person?

(10,220 posts)next week. I also have a contact at the League of Women Voters so I might hit her up.
If I have to go stand in line to vote and risk it, I will.

(3,416 posts)Andrea,
A friend just told me they are concerned because their mail ballot has not been received and counted. They mailed it on the 17th of August and all of us who mailed ours later than the 17th, already had ours received and
accepted..........what should they do? The registrar told them to request a provisional ballot...is that right?
If the ballot doesn't show up as received soon, they can apply to receive a new ballot if it is damaged or lost here:
https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voting-resources/county-elections-offices
Applications for a new ballot must be received by county officials 7 days before the election, or September 7th.
Hope this helps Chowder.

(10,220 posts)completed and returned.
I could be wrong though I called the Registrar's office yesterday and again today because I couldn't find anything clear on this.
One agent said, go vote on election day using a provisional ballot and the other said No, I can't get another ballot or go vote on a provisional ballot on election day.
I'm going to call again next week and also try my contact at the League of Women's Voters.
Thank you so much for asking. I really, really appreciate that.

(2,493 posts)and that they had received and counted my ballot on 8/24.
Do you have a system in your county where you can sign up with the registrar for text updates?
chowder66
(10,220 posts)match on all sites. Ballottrax has they sent it on the 8/9/21. Another site says 8/14/21 and another says 8/16/21.
I returned it on 8/17/21 and all of them do not show it being received. I signed up for both text and email. Nothing.
Spoke to two agents at the LA County Registrars office they show it as not being received either.
I hope wherever it is it is found. If not, my vote will not be counted and I'm told there is nothing I can do about that.

(10,220 posts)It's helped me to a) validate my process in trying to get information and b) helped me understand that my ballot really is late.
Retrograde
(10,970 posts)I allow a week to ten days for my ballot to get processed. If you don't get a notification (many counties have also had on-line tracking before ballottrax - if yours does, check directly with them) let them know, and ask them what you can do. You may have to cast a provisional ballot on election day if it doesn't show up to be counted.
I was surprised at how quickly mine was processed: mailed it on the 18th, it showed up as "counted" on the 20th. But then we have decent mail service here and a registrar who's on top of things.

(10,220 posts)from the Co. Reg. Office. One agent said go and fill out a provisional ballot on election day. The other said you can't do that.
I'm getting pissed off. I can't find a thing about what to do if "returned ballots" are lost in the mail.
I'm hoping the status changes but I sure would like to know for sure what my remedy to this is.
