(53,202 posts)But EarlG has said that on DU4 there will be a symbol in the title that will tell us if it's a twitter post. He said that, so far, DU4 will not have a function to trash threads with the symbol but he will look into adding that down the road.

(48,534 posts)Ive had Trump on my trash word list since before he ran for president. Its one of the very first words I ever put on there and its never left. Does that mean Ive never seen a thread about Trump in the last ten years? No. I just dont see threads with Trump in the subject line. It really cleans up the mess, especially on days when he says something real fucking stupid and fifty DUers have to post identical threads about it.

(106,778 posts)and enter "Musk" or whatever your current annoying issue/name/association.
No offense to the OP, but all of these complaining posts are becoming at least as annoying as the tons of TFG, or MUSK posts.
EarlG, Elad (and Skinner) gave us this ability. Let's start using it.

(4,696 posts)I now have keywords that cause threads to be trashed

(37,872 posts)My post was kind of tongue-in-cheek... I saw two threads just this morning complaining about the topics being discussed on DU. I have seen people explain the feature ad nauseam over the years, but I guess many still do not know that it exists and/or how to use it!
(Ignore and trash thread come in handy, too!)

(11,165 posts)I have found ignore very handy tho.

(37,872 posts)I have 25-30 people on ignore (some of them are probably ffr). During the primaries, that number goes up!

(14,630 posts)It seems that the trash does not work on the DU home page, so if I am inclined to rage (hardly ever) then I can go there and find outrage. Looks like I left out Elon. Adding now.

(14,630 posts)By comparison, my tech news aggregator is Hacker News ( https://news.ycombinator.com ) and I choose "newest".
It is dispassionate, and there are about zero clickbait leads (as in "Wow" )
I pushed pretty hard on GOTV stuff when others were decrying the sky falling.
Just not interested in griping for the sake of griping.
Want to use DU as an aggregator for topics that interest me, and post (mostly) things I find useful to others, or nice photos.

However, I did wonder what results you might see since some topics are no doubt more likely to attract contributions on the order of "Democracy is dead" and "Republicans HATE children!!!!
Thanks for posting the link to Hacker News. Just learned my husband and I are with the times instead of hopelessly behind -- in THIS respect at least:
Feels more like how broken clocks are still with it sometimes, but I'll take it.

(14,630 posts)I sometimes click on the DU "Home Page" where my filters seem not to work.
I also check DailyKos (I appreciate the GoodNewsRoundup ) and scan the top 18 or so. Easy to scan.
And anything as big as an indictment will show up even on Hacker News.
Def not burying my head in the sand. More like shielding from the sandstorm.

As those tended to be the most annoying. I try to use it somewhat sparingly. I could probably add a few more, but nothing has hit critical mass for me yet.
