Helluva afternoon for DU to be down!

after the first couple of hours to watching episodes of The French Chef. So at least my time was not completely wasted.

It drove me crazy to get news like that and not be able to come here and talk about it! I was SOOOOOO happy when DU finally came back!

When we were down this afternoon, even tho I knew it was planned, I had ptsd from 2016.

because after 2016 I wonder if they will try to sabotage us again

I got home, but there was still no DU, then we got a "high wind" warning and lost the TV signal, too!

Yikes, it was a big news day!

I knew DU had a scheduled upgrade but they neverr take that long

All this news starting dropping like hot potatoes.


I distracted myself with household chores and getting caught up on some book reading. Periodically I kept refreshing DU.


DU was down for longer then I expected.


We're back!

Still, knowing it was going to be up soon was far better than when it was down after the 2016 election....not knowing when it would return.

That was just so scary!

I felt like a puppy, whining and scratching at the door, hoping to be let back in.

This is a testament to the power of community.

Even knowing it was scheduled for downtime, it felt like a loss seeing that message, and I was waiting for it to come up.

So I only saw once that it was down around 3 or 4, so I missed the outage. Glad the restore was successful.

i'm not sure how many times i clicked on the "out of service" link. it still wasn't as bad as that horrific night in November 2016.

DU has been my online home since the gw years. It's still the place to go for validation, information, and comfort. Just today I saw 2 posts on the front page that immediately let me know I am not the only one deeply disturbed (driven to despair?) by what the SC did yesterday. Both posters stated how they had not slept last night.

To doom and gloom day in and day out here

The down time gave me some perspective - I realized that sometimes reading DU stresses me out, just like watching cable TV does. We end up marinating in all the commotion and controversy and it allows TFG to live rent-free in our heads. I'm tempted to comment and argue when there's really no point in it (yes, it's a message board and an opportunity to vent, but sometimes venting just makes you angrier). I think I will spend more time doing other things for awhile, less time on the internet and cable news/opinion shows. I will take walks and paint and read and sing. I am too old to waste my remaining time stewing in anger and stress. I'll be here, but not as much.

…I checked to see if we were back up, but it was several times an hour starting in the late afternoon. And, like many who have already commented, there were definitely flashbacks to 2016 even tho this was planned and announced.

I’ve never met a single DU member in person, yet I treasure this community.

Some “addictions” are beneficial. Mine to DU most certainly is.

But I did run off and buy food and post my ballot while it was down......

Just having an unusually strong predilection toward the jawn.

I heard two breaking stories yesterday and then remembered that we were down - and said damn this is HUGE

Reality sucks, but not quite so much for people with patience.
