Donations. This is ridiculous. Makes me not want to donate ever again.

(20,679 posts)Besides the political requests, I get the animals, children, veterans, PP, you name it. I kinda knew it going in years ago. I wish I didnt have to but I ignore or Id have to be on a donate to me fund.

(28,834 posts)If they're e-mails, unsubscribe.
Doesn't always work and sometimes requires more than one attempt, but I've had decent luck in ramping down the volume with both.

(15,421 posts)I dont allow texts to be sent.
TwilightZone
(28,834 posts)They can get a bit overwhelming.
that seems to be how it goes unfortunately. Its annoying. You can always unsubscribe.
QED
(3,059 posts)The number I get is greatly reduced - I unsubscribed from mailing lists and eventually the demands for $ tapered off somewhat. Now I'm getting texts, a lot of texts. I reply Stop but still they come. "This is our 3rd request for your response to XXX poll." I received other requests and responded Stop but they just change the number the message comes from. Or maybe it's a different poll.
I'm just not going to donate $ anymore to avoid the harassment.

At least yours are Democratic solicitations.

(20,034 posts)From most of the Democratic organizations because they were just filling my mailbox with requests and I hadn't donated since Barack Obama's second term.
You don't want to unsubscribe but you also don't want 500 pieces of mail.

(4,044 posts)My mother has dementia and can no longer read her email. I monitor her account.
At some point in December, somehow, she got on Katie Porter's email list. (Obviously, Mom did not make a donation.)
Katie emails Mom every day, sometimes twice or more per day. Sometimes the FROM field says "Katie Porter." Others say "Team Katie Porter." And then there's "Katie Porter for California", "Katie Porter HQ", "Lacie (KP's campaign manager)", "Paul (KP's son)", "Eric, Katie, Pourobee (Katie Porter Finance Team)", "Katie Porters Whiteboard". All the names have the return address info@mail.katieporter.com.
I love Katie and her whiteboard, but this sullies her.
And now, AOC is doing it every day under different, but similar name permutations.
The DLCC is now emailing her, but not every day.
This week, Sherrod Brown and Martin Heinrich have joined the party.
Imagine what it would be if an actual donation had been made.

(1,807 posts)I find these constant solicitations downright offensive. Id be more inclined to donate if they spammed me less often. I especially hate it when they make up some crisis that you have to contribute to RIGHT NOW in order to avoid imminent disaster. I dont know why they havent figured out that we donate despite these constant pleas, not because of them.
Earth-shine
(4,044 posts)Candidates and democratic organizations spend way too much on these people.
Katie Porter's rampant, well-beyond-the-practical emailing is seemingly managed by a third-party internet company that is selling our data.
>> Not a Popular Opinion Here, But...
On this thread, you are in good company. It is annoying and makes them look desperate. I love Katie Porter, but it's making me not like her.

They sent a very nice and detailed reply but they cant do anything. Apparently they are required to make email addresses and other info of donors publicly available.

(3,738 posts)If it was against the law for them to clog my inbox asking for more money, they would stop. In a heartbeat. But they just dont want to.
spooky3
(36,824 posts)Donors info because they are required to make it public under campaign finance laws.

(4,044 posts)Politicians begging for money is not a way to facilitate democracy. It just puts it up for sale.

Our democracy is so diluted and polluted. I try not to despair.

(2,359 posts)It's beyond obnoxious. The real problem is Act Blue imo. They give or sell your info to a slew of other campaigns. I won't give to another candidate this year because I've been so harassed and overwhelmed with this shit.
