Biden campaign announces it will target flipping Trumps Florida
by Alex Gangitano - 04/01/24 8:19 PM ET
President Bidens reelection campaign announced Monday that it will aim to flip Florida, targeting the home of former President Trump.
Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a memo that investing in Florida is part of the Biden campaigns pathway to 270 electoral votes. Trump won the Sunshine State in 2020 with more than 51 percent, compared to Bidens 48 percent.

(6,575 posts)Start putting money into local races from dog catcher to county commissioners.
Thats how the right took over many states, we can do exactly the same.

(5,784 posts)I do hope it's not a bust like in past elections when too many resources went into winning a difficult state and not enough resources left for winnable states like North Carolina, for instance.
I trust that they know more about it than I do, but still I wonder if Florida can be flipped this time around with all of DeStupid's people running the show.

If people come out in the numbers they have in other states, it will make a difference.
Maybe.
Direct PAC money to advertise for that ballot initiative.
I get a little miffed when posters here write off Florida and Texas as being "gone". Both of those states are barely red, they both are within reach. Trump beat Biden by 3 points in Fl and 6 in texas in 2020. Those are both close enough to flip. Florida should be a Blue state. And with abortion being directly on the ballot, it's got a great chance to flip in 2024.

(11,989 posts)US House seats are a lock for Republicans because of extreme gerrymandering, which also keeps the state legislature in their control. I had hopes for this election to finally see Ted Cruz shown the exit door until the state took over Houstons elections administration. I think Houston has the largest number of Democratic voters in the state, and it is highly likely that Republicans will try to manipulate the vote to protect Cruz. Things like only one dropbox for mail ballots in a county with millions of voters can cause people not to vote. Conveniently losing new voter registrations helps. Forcing people to vote conditional ballots because of imaginary errors is probable, along with never counting those ballots.
This article is from 2023, but it reports on how the legislature passed laws to thwart Democratic dominance in Houston.

(5,784 posts)A nice option to have when you're raising more money than your opponent, and your opponent is siphoning off a good portion of his donations to pay for his personal legal expenses.

(8,828 posts)Even if they dont flip it, the Russo-Fascist GQP will have to dump more money into it than they were expecting. Money that they dont have because Fucko sucked it all up.

(35,069 posts)maybe not.
But there is also the strategy that since they have more money than Trump that this forces Trump to spend in Florida and hurts his spending in other States.

Instead, Florida threw its electoral votes in the trash last time by backing tfg.

(47,141 posts)we should be able to win them back. Trump's margin over Biden was 3.4%. His margin over Hillary was 1.2%
And COVID might have reduced some of Trump's dumbest voters.
Unfortunately Florida also has a Measles outbreak in unvaccinated school children. At some point people need to wise up.

Without Florida, I don't see any way Trump could beat President Biden.

(2,471 posts)Trump picked up more votes in Florida in 2020 than he did in 2016 and beat Biden by a larger margin than he did Clinton. This is due to the influx of right wingers from Blue/Purple States over the past ten years. It has only gotten worse over the past three years. The Florida Supreme Court decision now allows GOP women to go to the polls, vote straight Republican ticket and then check the box in favor of the Constitutional Amendment on women's reproductive rights. It will easily pass and it wont require Republican women to vote for one single Democrat to restore their rights.

(1,588 posts)Turnout in Democratic areas in 2020 was disappointing. Everything I've read has indicated that Florida Democrats need to get their act together. Florida now carries more electoral votes than the reliable New York. Can't let this one slip away.

(19,345 posts)who say they've never seen the political climate this bad. People are in each other's faces about supporting Trump, with Trump signs, flags, banners etc. everywhere. Not to mention everyone carrying concealed handguns everywhere. They say it's like the wild west down there, and they're seriously considering leaving the state altogether. I fled the state 20 years ago after I first retired. After 4 years I couldn't take it anymore. I can deal with the snow and cold temps easier than I can right-wing zealots, and this was twenty years ago! I can't imagine what it's like down there now.
I haven't set foot in that state since.
I think Florida is a going to be very difficult to turn blue. Just my opinion.

(43,633 posts)With abortion rights and marijuana on the ballot, we have a better chance to prevail than I would have thought. We also have a newly revitalized Florida Democratic Party.
I have hope.

Period
Go after the entire republican party over access to contraception and abortion. We should win across house, senate, and presidency

(7,395 posts)Even in states where you may not win, still campaign and target them, making your opponent spend precious resources (time and money) to keep what he already thinks he has. Since Dumpy the Clown and the RNC are running low on cash and time in Dumpy's case, that will be a double-whammy of a blast this year.
