A Palestinian and an Israeli, face to face. Both expereinced immeasurable tragedy and choose to work for peace.

How can Israelis and Palestinians achieve peace? Palestinian peacemaker Aziz Abu Sarah and Israeli peacemaker Maoz Inon discuss the immeasurable tragedies they've experienced growing up in the region — and how they choose reconciliation over revenge, again and again. With a fierce belief in a better future, they talk about conflict, safety, finding shared values and how they're building a coalition of Israeli and Palestinian citizens who are intent on creating a path to hope and peace.

I learned about this group when one of their founders, Vivian Silver, was murdered in the Oct. 7 massacre. Israeli and Palestinian women working together at the grass roots level to try to bring peace to the region.

We need all these folks and more. Understanding and diplomacy is the only way to safely get out of the place we're in now. Unfortunately Netanyahu and Hamas are both well-funded and determined to keep fighting. But there are also many ordinary folks who would like peace.

in which the sides not only manage to forgive each other, but work to hammer out a new form of government they can both manage to cope with, along with delineating which legal/social functions will be governmed by their respective religious leaders.

I think it can be done if they've all had enough slaughter.

. . . many of the Kibuzim who were slaughtered on Oct 7 were active in Israel/Palestine peace. I heard a story of one woman who had developed what she thought was a deep friendship with a Gazan who turned out to be spying for Hamas.
