(109,751 posts)Not that I expect TSF to win, but I could not bear him having ANYTHING to say about our beloved President Jimmy.

(20,684 posts)He'd probably get pressured into it for the sake of appearances, but he'd do it begrudgingly, with as little fanfare as possible. Because how dare ANYTHING not be all about HIM!
SO glad Biden will be in charge. (Not that that I expect TSF to win in November, because I really, really don't!)

He will be missed....................................

(8,517 posts)There have be so many Presidents in my lifetime I would never want to meet. And those I would want to meet, I would not want to take their time away from doing their job. I'd want to have met them before or after they held that office. And I think before, as you had the privilege, would be best.

(2,424 posts)Much of the film was of Carter sitting in the back of a limousine speeding through an urban cityscape and being interviewed by the unseen cameraman. Ever since I saw that movie, there is one burning question I have wanted to ask him, and if I had ever had the opportunity to talk to him, this is the question I would have asked him:
"Mr. President, do you EVER have to actually STOP for a red light or a stop sign?"
Bless his noble heart, he is the most thoroughly decent human being to occupy that office in my lifetime.
Does anybody here remember the name of that movie? I'd like to watch it again.

(6,572 posts)The quote in the article is:
He has been in hospice, as you know, for almost a year and a half now, and he really is, I think, coming to the end that, as Ive said before, theres a part of this faith journey that is so important to him, and theres a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end and I think he has been there in that space.
Hes basically saying that Jimmy Carter is at the end of his life. Well yeah, hes 99 and has been in hospice for over a year. But hes not insinuating that he expects him to suddenly pass any day now, as the headline indicates.

(52,997 posts)was choosing this good man. I sincerely knew he was a man of character and respect. It really was a wake up call that the GOP was pure evil. If Reagun was the best they had to offer then fuck them! I was politically active in my late teens as were most of my friends/roommates in art school in NYC in 1980. We were glad when he was shot. I have I had the GOP on my radar back then. When my grandmom died she still had an invitation to Carter's Inaugural Parties from when she worked to support him. Her neighbors in FL couldn't stand to see her Dem Yard Signs. She loved to piss them off. I guess it is in my DNA.

(734 posts)Most will never understand how he saved 3 mile island from meltdown. He didnt go visit as just the President he went as a nuclear engineer. Of the two Presidents and one VP I have interacted with personally without a doubt most humble. He kept in touch with his Navy and her sailors and we thought the world of him. Honor Courage and Commitment our core values he was the example in the book.

(5,410 posts)I think this statement has been misinterpreted and misunderstood---
to mean that his end is 'imminent'. I don't believe it is. He just cast a primary vote, the other day...
The statement that his grandson made pertained to 'spiritual' issues,
rather than the former president's physical health...
and was made at a public event, as opposed to being a 'press release' from the family....
As such I believe that Jimmy will be with us for a while longer,
and this 'story' is just click-bait.
