Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to sit for a virtual interview on Monday with a New York City probation officer from his home at Mar-a-Lago with his attorney Todd Blanche at his side after he was found guilty on all counts in the hush money trial against him last month, three sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.
The pre-sentencing probation interview will be done over a special virtual network with added security measures, and the interviewer will be a female, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation. The call is not expected to be held over Zoom, those sources added.
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, was convicted last month on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the historic case. The probation interview is required by the court as part of the former presidents pre-sentencing report.
Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the hush money case, permitted Blanche to be present for the probation interview after prosecutors did not object. The Trump defense team is scheduled to submit their sentencing recommendation on June 13. The former president is scheduled to be sentenced for all 34 felony counts in New York on July 11, days before the Republican National Convention begins.

(2,376 posts)Such reports are typically prepared by a probation officer, a social worker or a psychologist working for the probation department who interviews the defendant and possibly that persons family and friends, as well as people affected by the crime.
If Trump's lawyer can't convince him to be civil at the very least and Trump goes off on the interviewer with "Merchan is conflicted", "Bragg is politically motivated", "Merchan's Daughter is a Democrat", "I didn't do anything wrong", "It's a corrupt Biden run DOJ witch hunt", "election interference"...the report will not impress Merchan in a positive manner.
And, I'm guessing that's how it will play out.
We know he can never keep his mouth shut and never stops trying to manipulate the conversation for an outcome favourable to him. Like the dirtbag car salesman who never stops trying to intimidate or cajole or kiss up to the Mark, so my guess is hell do the same thing in this situation.
As we know hes the world champion of lying so its to be expected he will insert multiple lies in the interview.

(2,264 posts)(outside of his niece Mary) that he has talked to a trained professional who understands sociopathic and narcissistic behavior. The interviewer is unlikely to be gaslit or thrown off by Trump's behavior. She's probably seen worse.
I am a bit annoyed that it is being conducted remotely, though this is not unheard of. Team Trump will use it to his advantage; I'm sure there will be "technical difficulties" if he starts getting irate. I also doubt there will be only he and his lawyer in the room.
I am looking forward to seeing Trump making things worse for Trump. His attitude and lack of contrition will make it even less likely he will get off with only probation...

Too bad they didn't add the security measures in time to keep those sources out of the loop!
