The logical flaw in the reasoning of the meme is that it compares info with restrictions: apples and oranges. It takes a missing restriction and equates it to a job app question.


It is not forbidden to hire felons, except in specific cases like financial felons in financial jobs.

It is not forbidden to hire felons as President of the USA.


It is common to ask on job apps if there is a felony conviction in the person's past.

It is common in this election to discuss tRump's known felony convictions.


I think felons should by law (Constitutional amendment) be prohibited from elected federal office and presidential appointment, unless the oldest felony is more than say 30 years ago (people can reform "youthful indiscretions" given time and support and will). I think the Electoral College should be eliminated at the same time.

You've never applied for a job, I take it, because the vast majority of jobs I applied for over the years did indeed ask about any prior convictions.

Of course apps ask about convictions. I think you are taking offense needlessly.

The mem is taliking about applying for the job, and asking the question. Not saying you are not correct in your statements - but the application is exactly what the meme is saying needs to be changed. Sort of like "Don't ask, don't tell."

Being president means holding the job.

Ergo, the meme is talking about holding the job.

The only reason a felon can be president is that it's not "on the application" - it's not on the list of qualifications to be President.

That's it. Nothing about felony convictions there. Adding to that can only be done by Constitutional Amendment - like the one which limits a President's terms.

These restrictions can stand or fall on their own, we shouldn’t collectively lower our standards because Trump exists.

If you are on probation. So all those suckers and losers he would lead, as Commander and Chief, have better characters and morals than he does.

You can sometimes join some of the military services if you are a convicted felon (and finished with probation or parole) with a moral waiver.

I think convicted felons should apply for moral waivers to Congress if they want to be the president.

But it doesn't matter, because the Commander in Chief is not a member of the military, as I'm sure you know.

Clearly, some are.

You can become a lawyer with a criminal conviction on your record. You may end up being disbarred if you commit the felony AFTER becoming a member of the bar. And you don't have to be a member of the bar to be a Supreme Court justice.
