General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDonald Trump made some fatal mistakes during the debate. One really big one was
he revealed that he literally does not care about young families struggling with child care costs. This can readily be observed starting at 1:05:29 in the attached link to the debate. Not once, but twice he pivoted from the the question to talk about utter nonsense having nothing to do with child care costs.
Joe answered.
Scroll to the 1:05:29 mark to listen to the entire exchange, then ask yourself, if you need childcare assistance, which of the two candidates will help you, and which will not. I believe that Trump makes it very plain. I also believe he has given Democrats a very big opportunity to run with this, because lots and lots of young voters need child care. Joes campaign needs to pull this segment up and run it over and over again between now and the election.

(7,604 posts)...at the highest levels of CNN's editorial management, and it was made over a week in advance. They KNEW what Trump would do, and they knew that Trump had no intention of answering questions. AND THEY DECIDED, THEY PLANNED, TO SAY NOTHING. In effect, they supported Trump. They decided to allow Trump to sully the debate with lies and nonsense. They DID have the responsibility to control the programming. They had the elective capacity to show the viewers that Trump CAN-- or CAN'T-- answer questions about policy and law. Without pressing a manipulative and deceptive Trump, they failed to account for their programming agenda. By failing, they showed that they were lazy and submissive journalists who would blame others for their failings.

(3,309 posts)... Mark Thompson is following in Chris Licht's footsteps. In a perverse attempt to appear unbiased, they are being grotesquely biased in giving Republicans carte blanche to defile their platform with the Orange Manure Spreader's incessant lies.

(13,152 posts)about sexually assaulting a woman in a department store. Why does it bother him that Biden accused him of having sex with a porn star when Biden also accused him of sexually assaulting E.Jean Carroll and he says nothing. It really strikes me, I don't care if he had sex with a porn star, I expect nothing less from him, but sexual assault seems to mean nothing?

(42,314 posts)on those questions. I think it came up twice, maybe three times. Keep in mind that we get most of our message from nonverbal communication, so the physical reaction counts more than what he actually says.
Alex Witt just played the alley cat clip as I was writing this. His physical reaction to Biden telling him he has the morals of an alley cat is "ya' got me." He assumes a hangdog look on his face. It really is remarkable and that clip should be played over and over.
He takes a second to recover and then says I did not sleep with a porn star. And that's it, that's all he says.
Here's a snip from a search:
70 to 93 percent
The percentage of messages that involve nonverbal communication varies depending on the source. According to Albert Mehrabian, a researcher of body language, communication is 55% nonverbal, 38% vocal, and 7% words only1. However, most experts agree that 70 to 93 percent of all communication is nonverbal2. Mehrabian also concluded that only 7% of communication is verbal, and 93% is non-verbal. Of this 93%, 55% of the message is communicated by facial expressions and body language, and 38% by tone of voice3.

(9,214 posts)On the question of making child care more affordable, Trump gave his usual word salad of bullshittery.
If I was Joe after hearing that
?
Biden (acting incredulous!): WHAT THE HELL WAS THE QUESTION????? OK. Never mind. Child care. Youd never know by that answer.
Child care costing more than your rent is a major national issue. The ONE question those needing childcare help have to ask themselves is this: What Party will help you? What Party cares about that? What Party cares about you and your family?
And you know the answer.
And then do what Jon Stewart BEGS Biden to do! What ever good salesman knows what to do: SHUT!! UP!!
Still have almost 2 minutes to respond? SHUT UP! So what if you have more time? This is point when you have won! Say another word - you lose. Point. Match.
