Why are post saying Biden should resign/drop out allowed here?

Serious question.

The rules say not to bash Democratic officials. Does the President not qualify for that?

I'm assuming this will get reported by the trolls too, so I'll just accept the hide (and ban?) if it comes to it. This needs to be asked publicly.

But grappling with the very real question of whether he should withdraw isn’t clearly “relighting the primaries” to me.

Beating Trump is priority #1; how we get there after Thursday’s debate is an important question to wrestle with.

The call is ultimately Joe’s to make.

I've witnessed this teetering on several occasions.

I concur and I'm extremely aware that beating Trump is our number one priority.

What I saw in the debate was horrible moderators and a pathological liar lying, not answering the questions and gaslighting all through the debate. I thought that Joe performed well even with the narcissistic crap being thrown at him.

I don't believe that Joe would throw in the towel, he knows how imperative 2024 election is.

I'm not a political expert by any means, just my 2 cents.

it's a worthwhile read. But that post did not explain why we continue to see these 'Biden needs to drop out' posts.
(my guess here, is that juries are refusing to banish these posts upon being flagged/alerted)

Here's what Earl did say in that effort -

- snip - Which is why the current talk on DU of replacing Biden seems to me like a purely academic exercise born out of panic (not to mention, ahem, a violation of DU rules, since we declared an official end to Primary Season months ago).

The ramifications of Biden staying/leaving are a valid point for discussion, since the campaign and candidate are wrestling with the question themselves.

perhaps the solution is to ignore them. Stop responding to them. Stop giving them the space and attention that they seek. They are tenacious, even after EarlG did an excellent job of laying out political reality in his OP. The tenacious ones challenged him on that thread, too.

To be that tenacious suggests that they are on a mission of some sort, or, at best, they just aren't able to see the reality of the larger picture.

I check their posting history and profile, too, to get a better picture of where they are coming from.

It's good to get a variety of opinions but if OPs continually push division and negative views of Dem leaders, then there is always the "trash thread" option. We shouldn't let ourselves get bogged down in arguments with them. There are other things to discuss, like how to get Biden elected and give him a good Dem Congress to work with.

Joe Biden is our general election candidate for President, so if you're calling for him to step down or for someone else to force him out, then yes, you are breaking the rule. DU's primary season ended months ago with no serious opposition to Biden. The time to pick a different candidate has long since passed.
