Steve Bannon says 'Maga army' ready, as he reports to prison

Donald Trump’s former top adviser Steve Bannon has told the BBC he does not fear going to prison or watching the former president’s 2024 campaign from behind bars. After being convicted of contempt of Congress, the man who was seen as the power behind the scenes in the White House at the start of Trump’s presidential term in 2017 will report to a federal prison in Connecticut on Monday.

He is still appealing against his conviction for refusing to appear in front of the committee of lawmakers investigating the 6 January 2021 attack on the US Capitol by Trump supporters. Bannon has claimed that conversations he had with the president that day should be protected under executive privilege.

But last week the Supreme Court ruled he could not delay his sentence until after the appeal was heard, and now Bannon will have to face his four-month sentence. “I've served my country now for the last 10 or so years focusing on this,” he said in an interview, referring to politics and the Make America Great Again (Maga) movement. “If I have to do it in a prison, I do it in a prison - it makes no difference at all.”

He said that he was unconcerned about missing a crucial part of Trump’s campaign, as there is a “Maga army” ready to ensure the former president defeats Joe Biden and returns to the White House. “I’m ready to go,” he said. “I'm all set up.”

Two: Themselves.

Three: As John Boenher said of the KKKult members, the are nothing more than “legislative terrorists.” These are the people who campaign on “The government doesn’t work.” And then they get to DC and ensure that government doesn’t work, while still yelling about it and blaming the Democrats. The hypocrisy is incredible.

(or devolved) into MAGA. I thought the "Tea-baggers" were weird, but in comparison to the MAGA crowd, they were silly and almost comical with their goofy outfits and funny hats. MAGATs on the other hand are flat out hateful and dangerous.

Whenever I think I'm starting to understand, then something else happens that is so inconceivable I begin to question reality as I've known it. Today's Supreme Court decision is beyond comprehension. Yeah, I'd expect something like that from justices like Thomas and Alito, but I though at least Roberts and Gorsuch were more sane and reasonable. What bizarre hold does Trump have over them?

They are circumspect when it comes to any kind of access. To be able to email anyone, you have to submit the person’s name to the prison. They are then checked out by the prison and maybe approved or not.

Communications are monitored by listening in. They tell the prisoner that at the beginning of the phone call. All emails are read before going out.

Even if you are approved, there are long lines at the kiosk to be able to email or talk on the phone. You only get a certain number of minutes and you are cut off.

I know all this from my nonprofit legal association which helps people who are wrongly convicted.

"The 'Evil Genius' of an Evil Administration"

Slate magazine writer David Plotz described Colson as Nixon's "hard man, the 'evil genius' of an evil administration."[10] Colson has written that he was "valuable to the President... because I was willing... to be ruthless in getting things done".[11] Nixon's White House Chief of Staff H. R. Haldeman described Colson as being the president's "hit man".[12][13]

Colson authored the 1971 memo listing Nixon's major political opponents, later known as Nixon's enemies list. A quip that "Colson would walk over his own grandmother if necessary" mutated into claims in news stories that Colson had boasted that he would run over his own grandmother to re-elect Nixon.[11] In a conversation on February 13, 1973, Colson told Nixon that he had always had "a little prejudice".[14][clarification needed]
