President Biden is hitting Trump hard on his dystopian anti-democratic plansThe Biden-Harris campaign has introduced a website to lay out the dangerous Project 2025 plan for a second Trump term.
"Project 2025 is the plan by Donald Trumps MAGA Republican allies to give Trump more power over your daily life, gut democratic checks and balances, and consolidate power in the Oval Office if he wins," the website states.
The website highlights the main points of the 900-page Christian nationalist policy document created by the Heritage Foundation and several other right-wing organizations tied to Donald Trump, including:
Taking Away Reproductive Freedom Nationwide
Using the Presidency for Revenge on Trumps Political and Personal Enemies
Terminating the Constitution
Consolidating Power in the Oval Office
Gutting Democratic Checks and Balances on Presidential Power
Giving Handouts to the Ultra Wealthy Paid for by Working Families

(4,099 posts)most of the first chapter. I managed to do it without throwing up, altho it was hard not to lose my supper. Just that first part of the family and how we are killing the only "good" viable family -- married man, woman, children by indoctrinating the kids into "Wokeism" was really hard to stomach. I loved how they adamantly state as fact that there has never been a successful society where any other kind of family existed. JFC, they don't know much about their own society, let alone how society and communities elsewhere raise their kids. Ever hear "it takes a village?" It takes a hell of a lot more than married man and woman these days, but that seems to their answer for everything that's wrong with the kids. Of course, a lot of those kids are just going to cease to exist as people, since they don't identify as straight, heterosexual. So far, I've not seen where they comment on those kids who are born with non-specific genitalia. I'm assuming I won't... since those babies don't exist in their world.
We have spent a week+ arguing whether or not our nominee should stay or go. We've missed the boat, IMO. Instead of having to make excuses and state categorically he's staying in the race, Biden and his team should be creating their own policy document, complete with instructions (at least in general) on how those policies are to be achieved. Then put THAT and Project 2025 as links. In fact, although I don't want to see "ours" be simply an answer to that which they've brought up, I think it would be a good thing to bullet post ours vs theirs, with drop downs for more info, much like Biden has done on this website. Like I said, not a "call and response" thing... some aspects would change from current policies; others might be brand new policies Biden wants to implement. But this is the time to go bold with his vision, and doing it this way puts out their clear and concise... especially when it's easily checked against the Con perspective. But they've been working on this document, they say, since Reagans first day in office. I believe they said it was ready to go at that point, and that Reagan achieved like 60% of what they wanted. I'm assuming Newt's The Contract on America contained and emphasized the remaining 40%.
And how about that leveling out of Social Security... basically making it a UBI across all income levels? And them insinuating that SS shouldn't start until 79? Man, it kills them they can't take total control over our retirement program. At least they do call it a Retirement Insurance program... which it will no longer be if they change it the way they want... even if you do live long enough to collect it.
And I loved the part about Disability SS. Saying that of course it would pay the full amount of SS to those no longer able to work. Listen, I TRIED for SS. I have fibromyalgia and lupus; neither controlled well by and type of medication. I've also had two back surgeries and stand and walk humped over because I can no longer straighten my back. Yet, because I was able to walk across the 6' x 9' (approx) office space without falling on my face, I was denied disability. Does any truly think they'll be more forthcoming under Project 2025? Hah! It's a joke getting it now. You've got to have money to hire lawyers to fight for you to get it... which I didn't have. Notes, memos, and med info from your doctors should suffice for any one person to achieve disability, as well as perhaps a note of how your disability impacts your current (or recently past) work environment. You should NOT have to hire a lawyer to collect what should be rightfully yours. These are true entitlements... like SS and Medicare. I not only detest but adamantly demand they stop being said in a salacious, greedy "entitlement" phrase... like it's something dirty.
I truly believe we need to come up with a policy plan like the P2025, even if it's just based on the DNC plank with additional input from Biden's vision for America. Otherwise, we're whistling Dixie while Dixie is running roughshod over us.
Just my personal opinion... of which I have many. (gryn)

(36,268 posts)Besides the elimination of abortions and contraception, P25 would destroy much of the federal government's functions under control of the Executive branch.
The bureaucracy (which takes an undeserved hit every election cycle) acts as a flywheel to reduce the rate of change of government. P25 would eliminate that flywheel by enabling the new dictator to fire any civil servant who doesn't show sufficient loyalty. P25 is compiling a list of thousands of loyal christofascists to install quickly. The federal government as we know it would cease to function as expected.
You can liken it to suddenly throwing a car into reverse in the middle of cruising down the Interstate. Bad shit will happen.

(462 posts)Archiving the Project 2025 plan is a good idea in case the Heritage Foundation changes it or takes it down.

(462 posts)The Project 2025 plan is to impose Christofascism on the American people.
Christian nationalism would become the state religion in direct conflict with the First Amendment principle of the separation of church and state.
Don't misunderstand, Biden's Project 2025 website is excellent. It's a terrific start. But, they need to add the Christian nationalism angle as soon as possible.
