(51,474 posts)yet he has a direct line into Appalachian America, really resonating with the heartland, and knows who to blame for America's perceived woes. The damn libruls be destroying our values.
It's amazing how a venture capitalist and bloviating NY real estate developer are the saviors of the rural working people.

(37,021 posts)that must be further back. He was protestant/evangelical growing up (mostly with his grandparents). He has had name changes (the mom re-marrying - he ultimately chose her last name) and then the conversion to Catholicism as an adult. I'm not sure where that came from, as he met his wife in law school and she's Hindu.
The remainder I learned - honors graduate at Ohio State, Yale Law School. And now here he is, first millennial on a major ticket. If his bio dad and mom were from Appalachia that explains his hillbilly book, but it doesn't look like that was his immediate story. I'm sure he knows enough to lay it on thick though.

(23,420 posts)They seem to agree that Vance comes off as the type that drinks heavily - and hits his wife for complaining about it.
Whether or not that's true - if he give enough women that impression, that ticket may end up underperforming polls by a good bit.
Especially with that lowlife Cheeto - the very image of the scummy ex-husband so many women have had in their lives.
Think. Again.

(2,292 posts)That's one of his prime qualifications.
But, Let's not get overconfident. I doubt he is a dummy. Far from it I suspect.
