(46,797 posts)I am sad and angry at the unfair attacks and backstabbing he has had to deal with. This will only change if the President announces a major health concern.

(899 posts)Because I didn't want him to stand down initially, but the more Democrats that came out against him, the more ammunition Republicans could have used against Biden in the Autumn lead up to the election...so he was basically kneecapped. He almost had no choice because reps turned their back on him, so he likely could never win.
Which sucks, but it was the smartest move at this point if Dems want to win. Total back stabbing.

(222 posts)about his health since the primaries? Hopefully, President Biden will make an official statement via live TV to let the nation know exactly what is happening.

(3,192 posts)He is definitely not afraid of Trump, the media, or billionaires, so I'm sure he felt that it was time to pass the torch.
Retrograde
(10,716 posts)more rapidly than normal. Look at pictures of Obama before and after - it's as if he aged a decade per term. And in Lincoln's last photos he looks a lot older than 56 (yes, he was that young when he died). After dealing with Covid, reactionary Republicans in Congress, relations with Israel and the rest of the Middle East and all the rest I'm not as familiar with I'm surprised Biden doesn't look 150!
That said, using my 20/20 hindsight, it may have been better if he had set out to be a one-term president and retire at the top of his game, knowing that there was a strong and diverse group of Democrats ready to step into his shoes. But that would have made him a lame duck president for at least a year.
I don't know all the details, so I can't say. The only advice I can offer Biden now is that he puts VP Harris more in the spotlight, and start delegating more to her.
