(38,334 posts)I don't have a preference for the VP pick.

(17,135 posts)Theres no way they will put him on the ticket. Our loss in my opinion as he is incredibly smart and has those zinger come-backs!
But it wont be him.

Mark Kelly has the most upside for me.

(1,224 posts)...would also be in the WH as 2nd Lady. Another big selling point for Mark Kelly as VP! 💜

(6,945 posts)She was the Representative from the congressional district where I grew up in Arizona, a Democrat, local business woman, who won a seat in a district that was more Republican than Democrat.

(46,030 posts)There probably is something in the background of every potential VP pick that someone is going to dislike. So what. I'm a staunch supporter of such a ban, but I would have no trouble with Kelly as the selection. Or Shapiro despite some folks concern about his views on charter schools.

(19,502 posts)but Josh has only been in office 18 months. Otherwise he could be my hands-down pick.
Kelly's state is not as important as Shapiro's, but WOW. A man who loves as stays wit his wife through terrible personaltimes! (Compared to a man who serially cheats on his wife.)

Either Mark or Gov. Shapiro would bring plenty to the ticket. We have a deep well of talent, and Im sure the Harris/Holder team is having a hard time weighing the pros snd cons of all of them. They probably could have saved themselves some time if they had read yesterday's Boston Globe, which gave a comprehensive list with a clear and concise list of the pros and cons of each.
By the way, in case anyone is concerned about Msrks military background, he also great talking to small groups of young/younger people about space travel.

(6,519 posts)Not Kelly or Shapiro. Need to reach working class rural voters. Kelly is not good for labor. Shapiros bad for teachers and unions because of his pro voucher stance.

(6,519 posts)to families for private school tuition and school supplies wasnt appreciated by Dems. He did back down in the face of House Democratic opposition, but his support was pretty enthusiastic and leaves him vulnerable.
I also think his likening pro Palestinian protestors to the KKK wont endear him to the young voters we need but thats a whole other story, as a Jew who is a peace activist, prefer not to engage in right now. Just back from 10 days in Israel out in protests with family and basically exhausted to engage with people on DU about that.
He isnt the worst we could do. But hes not as good IMHO as some other pro labor, working class candidates.

If KH doesn't want Gen Z to lose enthusiasm for her candidacy (she needs them to come out in big numbers for her to win), she should not pick Shapiro, because he has expressed support for Israel's brutal, genocidal response in Gaza.

(17,135 posts)Its the military background and the astronaut stuff. How can even the Trumpers logically (yes, I realize what Im saying there), find fault with Kelly with the background he has. Hes a freaking astronaut!!!!
So I think it will be him. Well see.

(9,148 posts)Nice straw man. 🙄🙄🙄
I dont want KH to pick someone who could dampen Gen Z enthusiasm for her campaign, thus helping Trump win. Its really not that complicated.
Also, you can pretend Israel isnt committing genocide, but the rest of the world isnt that delusional. .
Behind the Aegis
(55,983 posts)If they refuse to vote for a Harris/Shapiro ticket, then they, as MYOPIC single-issue voters, are fucking STUPID.
So fuck their (((sad))) !
As for your last BS propaganda,

(9,148 posts)at least compared to some of the other candidates, like Shapiro, who supports Israel's genocidal response in Gaza, which will not sit well with the crucial young voter block.
