General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt is taking all I've got not to be . . . . .
. . . . . overconfident.
I have NEVER seen a presidential candidate set the entire political world ON FIRE so quickly.
AMAZINGLY, the Democratic cats have been herded (including the righteously angry childless cat ladies) in a party membership ready to enthusiastically rock and roll.
I have never seen a campaign's coffers swell as fast and as full as now.
I have never witnessed former Republican rank and file members and activists endorse a candidate of ours so quickly and so full throatedly.
I have never seen young people move from Meh to I'm Voting.
I have never seen Dismal Don at such a loss for words and insult names as he is now. Nothing but childish taunts and recycled insults as he struggles for attention.
Rare are the days the DEMOCRAT was the one consuming all the oxygen in the room. But there it is. Non Stop!
Maybe this is simply the boomerang for the despair some felt for Biden's campaign. But I don't think so.
This feels REAL.

(48 posts)To me too!! Love what you said.. Ari is back and has Carville on....first off, he was saying something similar but sounded way to 'Debbie downer' to me. Why we listen to him anymore is a mystery to me. That said, Ari broke to listen to our Kamala speak live after the war monger, Netanyaho spoke. And James was GIDDY over what she said. Ooh, boy. This is gonna be fun!! Being a Californian, I just love her and always our Joe...

(9,705 posts)We could wake up the morning after the election in a world where nobody gives a flying Fock at the moon about TFG.
Where hes yesterdays news and theres nothing more to say. And it could be in a matter of weeks. Seems almost surreal after the all Trump all the time coverage weve had shoved down our throats for years now.

(34,930 posts)The polling hasn't shifted much yet. There is renewed energy on the Dem side, yes, but the moment remains fraught.
The race will still be decided by the least-informed voters: flibbertigibbets who vote based on whims and illogical biases.

(179 posts)We have MUCH work to do, including GOTV. There is a lot of time before Election Day. There is a lot of time for narratives to change. There is a lot of time for WHO KNOWS WHAT???
All that said - - OMG YES YES YES!! The energy is amazing. SHE IS our WINNER!! Because as she says - -
When we fight, we WIN!! Oh I just LOVE THAT!!
And I will be eternally grateful to Joe Biden on so many levels for so many things. But as his final GIFT to us all? And as for his amazing STRATEGIC TIMING???
(Yeah, well
..thats our seasoned, intellectual, perfectly poised PRESIDENT pulling off the greatest COUP ever - -RIGHT?? LOVE to Joe!!! Well done, CIC!!)

(816 posts)more so cautiously optimistic. We still have months to go and lots of hard work to get done, but things seem to be looking up (so far).
If we can keep the same energy until November, as well as expand our base/support (and get them to VOTE!), then I think we will have a reason to feel confident on election day. I feel better now than I did on the few days leading up to Biden's withdrawal from the race.

(1,445 posts)pictures of people of all ages telling their diverse stories kept popping up all over the place with the words "I understand the assignment". From all over the world including the US in support of Harris. In support of our democracy.

(8,028 posts)nothing TSF can do but double down on the Trumpism and repel more people. And the more enthusiasm/money/endorsements/visibility Kamala generates the angrier, more desperate, more whiney, more Trumpy he will get until even Fox will cringe. And then he will get worse again.
If faced with likely defeat...what will a person with his toxic, disordered brain do? Scene like Fargo with William Macy?

(113,093 posts)and now they can't deflect serious questions about his mental state by pointing their fingers at Biden. Plus, TFG now has Project 2025 hung around his bg, fat neck, competing with the long red tie pointing to his dick, something he should have reconsidered when El Jean Carroll won both her cases against him for not keeping that thing zipped, along with his mouth.
About the best they can do is call Harris a whore in Netspeak, as was done by a big blowhard on Pox News.
They've all been seriously wrong footed and it's glorious to see, even though we know it won't last. It never does. It is going to be great to hear our candidate speak while Fatso is speechless.
It's not going to be a fun job to convinc4 TFG he's no longer running against Biden. They still haven't managed to get through to him that he never ran against Obama. This is going to be one totally screwy election season.

(3,215 posts)I'm not counting my chickens. We've got to focus on young voters in swing states. That should be 70% of our focus, with the other 30% on down-ticket Dems in less competitive states to maintain visibility. (We'll never take Montana, for example. But, there's a shot at keeping Jon Tester in office.)
We shouldn't consume resources in places like Utah or Alabama or Mississippi.

Non-voters love competent candidates, and Kamala's competence stands out as a lighthouse in the darkness.
And she laughs. She shines.
The next 102 days will likely go down in democracy history.

Right now the Democratic Party and this election are on an upswing. We need to ride the enthusiasm for everything it's worth. Which is a lot.
The ugliness is coming but we're building the armor to move forward because:
We. Won't .Go. Back.
