Trump press sec clarifies that JD Vance's comments only apply to "Democrats who can have children but choose not to"

if you are infertile... JD Vance is ok with you not having kids. He might still let you vote

================================
Karoline Leavitt, a press secretary for former President Trump, defended Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as he faces criticism over past comments calling out Democrats who don’t have children.

“As a new mom, my heart aches for women who are unable to bear children. @JDVance words are being taken out of context and unfairly attacked,” Leavitt posted on social platform X.

In 2021, Vance made comments questioning if Vice President Harris is fit to lead since she does not have biological children. The remarks have recirculated in recent days, following his selection as Trump’s running mate earlier this month.

Leavitt posted a clip of Vance speaking at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, where he said his sentiment doesn’t target people who “struggled to find the right girl, find the right guy” or the people who “for biological, medical reasons … can’t have children.” Vance said his remarks were directed at Democrats who can have children but choose not to.

That’s just as bad.

There’s nothing wrong with deciding to not have children.

And for many Americans – Democratic and Republican – the choice is for economic reasons, the consequence of decades of failed, wrongheaded Republican policies, such as the right’s unwarranted opposition to affordable childcare and access to affordable health care.

First I didn't want kids. Then I wanted a kid if I found a partner who would be a good, stable father. Then I didn't find the guy, then finally I found the guy. Then I had some minor problems with getting pregnant, but then breast cancer hit and the chemo sent me into early, permanent menopause.

When a woman says at *14 or 16, or 25 or 30 that she doesn't want children it's not always her permanent decision. For some it is, and others do want kids.

But many women today are conditional, like I always was. I didn't want kids on my on, and I wasn't going to tie myself to a loser or abuser forever just to have a child. I saw way too many women older than me in those situations, and I didn't want children that badly; I never felt the ticking clock. I could use birth control and NOT sacrifice myself on the altar of childbirth and motherhood. In my case, breast cancer stopped me, but I'm here 27 years later writing about it.

And so Guyliner needs to have a big cup of STFU about my right to vote as a childless woman in America.

What an idiot. I'm sure there are republicans out there who could have children but choose not to. Kinda like the decision about what women do or don't do with their bodies.

She was never married, but was in a relationship that lasted over 40 years, until the man died. She also never had any children and made it very clear that she had never wanted them, though she did enjoy being an aunt.

It's not just Democrats who make the choice not to have children.

Hmm. Harris didn't find the "right guy" to share her life until she was in her 40's. That's pretty old to start having children, whether she wanted to have one or not. The risks of medical complications to both potential mother and child at that age increase exponentially; especially since some women begin to experience peri-menopause by then.
I did pretty much the same, spending my 20's and 30's working my ass off establishing a career I enjoyed for myself because I didn't want to spend youth anxiously looking for someone to take care of me in exchange for giving him kids.
Especially because I learned early on from fellow students and neighbors that the caretaker father figure initially chosen by mom may not be there - for whatever reason.
The Vietnam War, and the criminalization of young minority men (especially in the Reagan years) did a lot to increase the numbers of all those poor single mothers the GOP loves to wag their fingers at.

So, as usual, they're full of shit. She did "the right thing" by the rules they set down, maintaining herself and only getting married when she found the guy she wanted to spend her life with, but the goalposts are moved because she's not a perfect perky white middle class daughter.
