Looks like James Carville is out their trying to tap down the enthusiasm over VP Harris

Carville: Democrats’ ‘giddy elation’ over Harris won’t be ‘helpful much longer’

"Democratic strategist James Carville warned that Democrats’ “giddy elation” over Vice President Harris’s presidential campaign won’t be “helpful much longer” as Republicans seek to regain lost ground after President Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

“They’re coming at us, and they’re gonna keep coming,” Carville said during an interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber of the GOP attacks. “And this kind of giddy elation is not going to be very helpful much longer ‘cause that’s now what we’re gonna be faced with.”

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4794138-carville-democrats-giddy-elation-over-harris-wont-be-helpful-much-longer/

I am not a Carville fan. No one is naive about what we are up against, and from now until the end of August we will be having our virtual convention, an in-person convention, and get to know and introduce our candidate VP Harris and her VP selection to the public, and why anyone would want to throw cold water on the enthusiasm that will be generated from those events is just plain nonsense.

Typical Carville, and completely unecessary.

The winning of the game likely matters more than governing, policies and values. Same as learning Karl Rove and Donna Brazille were good friends.

As to Carville, he may be the most overrated operative ever. I seriously think that ANY Democrat would have won in 1992, given how toxic Bush became and the relentless attacks of Perot on Bush for more than a year. He and Begala's "war room" made the race iconic. In fact, Clinton was a charismatic candidate with baggage.

Carville is irrelevant to today's political scene. He needs to shut up and go away.

I tried that being married to the enemy crap. It doesn't work, for me or for him, unless he isn't what he claims to be. There's no middle ground between R and D, in life, in marriage, in work. There's no reaching across the aisle with those people. There's no amicable sharing of a marriage bed between two opposing beliefs.

People who are only Republican because of conservative financial concerns, that's what moderate Democrats are for.

..."In January 2020, Carville endorsed Colorado Senator Michael Bennet's ultimately unsuccessful campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination."

..."In February 2020, Carville suggested jettisoning the Democratic presidential primaries and caucuses, letting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi select the Democratic Party's presidential and vice-presidential candidates, and suggested Mitt Romney should "resign from the Senate to save the Democratic Party's ass, and run our convention." Carville further added he might cast a write in vote for Nancy Pelosi when he votes in Louisiana."

..."Carville's Super PAC bankrolled TV ads which sought to portray one of Lamb's primary opponents, Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman as a "self-described democratic socialist." Within a day of airing, PolitiFact and Factcheck.org called the attack ad false,[188] The Philadelphia Inquirer commented that Fetterman had never actually described himself that way,[189] the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, stopped broadcasting the ad,[190] and Senator Elizabeth Warren called on Lamb to disavow it.[191] Echoing a fanciful attack by Pennsylvania Republican Party chairman Val DiGiorgio, Carville himself re-tweeted news coverage on Fetterman being labeled a "silver spoon socialist."

And Redfield & Wilton's polling in the UK has always been sub-par, skewing right.

There is a great advantage in being on the offensive rather than worrying about and creating to what the Republicans are doing, or might be doing.

I am reminded of of Grant's remarks to his panicky officers during the battle of the Wilderness.

"Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, and land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time. Go back to your command, and try to think what we are going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do."

Let's think about what we are going to do, instead of what the Republicans might do, and let's retain the momentum and initiative we now have.

Later during the show a clip was played of VP Harris' brief presser, with Netanyahu right there, she was firm in her potition that Israel has the right to defend itself but stressed that it is time for the war to end and the suffering in Gaza end with a ceasefire and negotiations towards a two-state solution.

Why Carville was beside himelf with giddinesss as he marveled at her ability and strength to Netanyahu's face. He called it her first foreign policy address.

Fri Jul 26, 2024, 01:06 PM

I stopped paying attention to Carville a while back.

https://www.rawstory.com/carville-kamala-harris/

Reacting to an appearance by veteran Democratic strategist James Carville on MSNBC Thursday night in which he attempted to pour cold water on enthusiasm for Vice President Kamala Harris, the panel on "Morning Joe" hammered him for underestimating what is going on.

With Carville giving a dark warning that Donald Trump and his allies are going to come after Harris hard with an avalanche of attacks, former Hillary Clinton spokesperson Jennifer Palmieri all but rolled her eyes and stated that his point was more than obvious — and he needed to dial down the doom.

"I don't understand why James has to be a Debbie Downer," the exasperated Palmieri complained. "I don't know why we need to step on our enthusiasm, seriously. Democrats are enthusiastic, they're excited to have an answer to the question about who is the best person to take on Donald Trump."

"I don't think anybody is unaware of how nasty the Republicans can get and that it is a difficult race," she continued while speaking to host Jonathan Lemire. "You know, the vice president has seen a big jump in polling, right? That's sort of what is hard, is the last two, three percentage points, right? That's what the whole game is about. "

"We've had really great week, her numbers are improving and I think it's true that the Republicans are caught off guard," she added. "They don't quite know how to attack her or, you know, what her ticket is going to end up being."
