(2,801 posts)Black men then followed their lead.
White women next. Coming in last, but not least, is the next demographic, I'm now relieved to see. I had not seen anything before today that suggested men were following the lead of other groups. I didn't see the 8:30 am tweet by Jon Cooper.
There is a gender pay gap that greatly favors white men. I would expect men to give generously. Men come by their money much more easily than minorities/women.
Imitation is a fine form of flattery.

(17,708 posts)Well its great someone is keeping score, I guess. I know thats very important to some folks. And you dont sound bitter at all, so thats great too.

(2,801 posts)I'm female, nearing retirement. At this age I wonder, if I were a man, could I have retired a decade ago?
But I'm still working, taking on the microaggressions.

(2,801 posts)I had not seen this post from a few hours ago. Sincerely, thank you for sharing it with me and DU.
I don't know what "you've already decided" means. I am female. White. I'm not trying to be obtuse.
Voting patterns, white men tend to vote Republican, makes a mess.
MineralMan
(147,334 posts)I have always voted for and campaigned for Democrats. Since 1960, when I was 15 years old and campaigning for JFK.
I know many other men who do, and have done, the same. We don't "tend to vote Republican." Both white men and white women vote for both Democrats and Republicans. But this is Democratic Underground, and you'll find that most white men here are reliable Democratic voters. To assume otherwise is a mistake.
That's what I mean about having already decided. Jumping to conclusions about generalities is very often a mistake.

I volunteer locally and donate regularly. Planning on seeing how things pan out and where $$ is needed the most. So I'll "coast", thanks.
Not sure if I'm white or not. Pretty mixed, depends who you ask. I don't think of myself one way or another.

(10,003 posts)I spent my life being shoved into the "gay" box, whether I was ok with it or not, whether the people were well-meaning or not.
I do not answer to other people's boxes for me. It's demeaning, separating, segregationist. I know some people revel in this sort of thing. I do not.
If you want a favor, particularly money, come correct.
I think I have a right to request how I'd like people to address me. And "Dear Whitedudebro" ain't about to be it.

(3,305 posts)but the name and advertisement for it is the point.
I dont care for these 4 different events where we invite this group, then that group, then another group, then yet another group.
Frankly it plays right into the hands if republicans accusing democrats of using labels.
If you needed to separate because of zoom call limitations then they should have just had 4 different calls. The name of white women, black women, etc etc etc is an ugly look.

But I am debating redundancy issues that may arise in making my decision.
