OK...I surrender...

I’m watching a recording I made of the Olympic Procession on the boats, and I must say that the erudite commentary by Mike Tarico, Peyton Manning, and Kelly Clarkson IS THE MOST INSIPID SERIES OF COMMENTARIES which I have ever heard anywhere, anytime. It makes me wish for the days of that insufferable Bryant Gumbel.

To me, he is the most boring human on the planet. ZERO charisma. He's like watching paint dry.

I lived in the Detroit area across the river from Canada and got excellent Olympic coverage.

I was watching on Peacock. They were ruining it for me. All those beautiful boats with the athletes on the Seine and the viewers had to listen to their vapid meaningless blabber. It was amateur hour! I ended up muting them.

Unbelievably bad and predictable... Why the hell, Peyton Manning & Kelly Clarkson? WTF do they know about France, Paris, history & culture, past Olympics, Olympic sports--or most anything else? Clearly nothing. I don't know Mike Tarico, but he clearly was no better.

Your comment reminded me of the 25th anniversary of the JFK assassination. I was home recovering from surgery, and watched the coverage. David Belin was the strongest supporter of the Warren Commission; he had been a lawyer involved in its investigation. He was also a senior partner at the firm at which i worked.

His first appearance that day was on the Today show. He was being interviewed by Bryant Gumbel. At one point David said, “Bryan — may I call you Bryan?” Gumbel looked at the camera, shrugged, and said, “Sure. Why not?”
