What specifically should we be asking for (besides justice which means what?) after this 17 year old from Mescalero was killed by our Sheriff?
The name of the Deputy?
Demand that the Deputy be charged?
Results of the investigation?

(15,359 posts)never be a reason for them to be killed. If one can't do it, two deputies should be able to tackle a 17-year-old and subdue him. Not knowing anything else, I would suspect negligence at the very least.

(21,304 posts)I would be demanding an independent investigation into the incident and department use of force policies.
after watching the video, IMO no shots should have been fired and charges are warranted.

(9,175 posts)He was shot multiple times AFTER he had already been shot and cuffed! That officer is guilty of cold blooded murder.
As malaise would say: that is all!

(1,033 posts)That says he was cuffed when shot.
BComplex
(9,175 posts)the whole thing, it's obvious that he wasn't cuffed. He was shot 4 times.
Holy crap. And then 15 MORE times. That cop was out of control.

(14,335 posts)Call the local news outlet and ask them if they can help you take it "viral" or national... This is just as much part of the black lives matter movement than anything. The movement is supposed to also include Native Orgs... so I'd research that angle as well.
Legally, there's got to be a legal equivalent of the NAACP for Native Peoples? Or are they also inclusive...idk... But they would be able to help prosecute once you learn of the cop's name, etc..
That's all I can think of for now?
I absolutely hate how this happens so often , on and off reservations...and is rerely heard of. That's why I wish it would go viral...

Legally, maybe the best place to turn regarding this incident is the ACLU.

Psych and drug testing, for steroids, should be pre-reqs for everyone we arm and authorize. Screen out the ones looking for legalized murder.
