Harris campaign responds to Trump debate proposal

Last edited Sat Aug 3, 2024, 11:17 AM - Edit history (1)

I like this response:

From Yamiche Alcindor, Washington Correspondent for NBC News:

NEW: Michael Tyler, Harris campaign communications director, reacts to Trump’s debate statement: “Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out. He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10. The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience. We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

EDIT: Kamala's Twitter account has now responded directly:

It’s interesting how “any time, any place” becomes “one specific time, one specific safe space.”

I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there.

Each candidate writes out 2-3 questions for the other candidate (ones in which they also have to answer). These questions have to relate to policy and be made available to the candidates prior to the debate.

The debate itself will be strictly timed and involve a cross examination by the other candidate (kind of like policy debate in high school/college). Mics get turned off when time is up.

Then it doesn't matter who hosts the debate. Every news service has the option to broadcast the debate.

Tough guy Trump.

I once had a guy in Jr High challenge me to a fight, thinking I’d back down. I said “Sure. After school today.” He tried to talk his way out of it but I was tired of him picking on me. I solar-plexused him and that was that. Prick. He never bothered me that way again.

If Trump cannot keep his promise to show up on the debate on the 10th, how can you trust him for any kind of campaign promises.

Trump gaslights America; he is a sociopathic liar; he gets joy when he thinks he has duped people

was in response to Trump saying he won’t debate her on ABC because he’s in litigation against them so it’s a conflict of interest, where it was noted that he filed his lawsuit against ABC in March and agreed to the debate day in May.
