Good choice. He has the good seal of my approval, which has absolutely no impact on anything.

As good as a first impression that Obama made upon me, I didn't see him as having any kind of chance unless he balanced his ticket properly: his relative youth and lack of foreign policy experience could be used against him as effectively as his race. The very first article I read about Obama's possible running mates contained Biden, and had me stating that if he didn't choose Biden, I wouldn't be able to take him seriously.
Shapiro was my first choice as Kamala's running mate, being an Easterner to balance her being a Westerner. But since her husband already put a Jew on the ticket, I switched to Kelly -- until I learned that he is also a Westerner. Walz's military background makes gives Kamala commander-in-chief chops; and his being a mid-Westerner literally splits the difference!

(9,230 posts)She wasn't just buying cookware in France, as the press incinuated. She saved a relationship with French leaders who were pissed we sold a nuclear submarine to Australia, when France was hoping to make that sale.

She sat in on most PDBs and, like Biden, asked questions to get more info on some items. Joe Biden is not just a great president, he is probably one of the best foreign policy teachers around. He involved her so she would learn from the master, and have a mastery of all current security and foreign relation issues.
She's more than ready. Joe made sure of that. Now, he will get on with his work in his term, and she's in it to win it!

(14,653 posts)To break through the walls of misinformation, Gov Walz is the best choice with his no nonsense language. I wouldve been fine with Mr. Shapiro, wed be lucky to have either, but I was really hoping for this.
Thanks for the great news EarlG.
Our chances just got better.

(26,460 posts)a long interview with him that started with his use of the word weird.
The interview showed what a good communicator he is and his sharp political insights on the American political scene. Besides having a good sense of humor, he is an in depth thinker about issues facing the nation.
Together, they make a good, winning, well-balanced ticket.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
