(14,466 posts)Vance would have been issued an M-4 along with that typewriter.
All Marines are, first and foremost, rifleman.
Not defending Vance, he's a piece of shit, but let's get it right.
My MOS was a Heavy Equipment Operator and in the combat zones I was deployed to, I was issued a rifle and a sidearm and was trained how to use them.
I refuse to belittle a veteran's service that by all accounts, served honorably, as did Tim Walz, despite what Vance and the lunatic MAGAt's say.

(6,555 posts)...However, it was Vance and the Reich wing maggots who....FIRST attempted "swift boating" Walz almost immediately after he was named VP nominee.
Vance could have done the honorable thing, and just thanked him for his service. BUT NO! He had to talk about "stolen honor" while making up bullshit. This coming from a man who is now licking the boots of draft dodger Private Bone Spurs.
If any citizen TRULY has respect for our veterans, they must walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
And you sir, my fellow Zony, I thank you and respect you for your service.

(14,466 posts)I find it hilarious that the words honorable would be in the same sentence as Vance, outside of his military service, those two words should never be together in the same sentence.
So far, except for the MAGAt's, his ploy of lying about Tim Walz's military record is badly backfiring, just like everything else about him and Been A Dick Donald.

(40,517 posts)JD, your country and comrades-in-arms could have continued to use your skills.
Yet, you just abandoned them to depart the military service.
Our country was still in Iraq in 2007.
Maybe your tour was too arduous?

(40,517 posts)'By JD's own standards', he abandoned his fellow Marines.

(4,680 posts)Its not okay when they do it and its not okay when we do it. No matter how you feel about him now, Vance did his time and got, as far as we know, an honourable discharge. That puts his actual service above criticism.
You can go after him for what hes been saying about Gov. Walz because its heinous and, as a fellow service member, he should know better. But dont criticise his service or youre potentially criticising every other SM who did that job. Its estimated that it takes 5-6 people in rear echelon roles to support each person in a combat role. That doesnt make those people any less essential.
