PORTSMOUTH — Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to speak to supporters at Throwback Brewery in North Hampton Wednesday, a campaign official confirmed, bringing her 2024 presidential campaign to New Hampshire for the first time.

VP Harris is expected to propose a tax break intended to help entrepreneurs offset the costs of starting a small business. She also plans to outline how she intends to pay for the proposal.

Kamala Harris last visited the Seacoast in February 2019, drawing an overflow crowd to Portsmouth's South Church as a candidate in the New Hampshire presidential primary.

It is her first visit to the Granite State since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, as well as her first since April 2021, when she came to promote bipartisan jobs and infrastructure legislation. Her husband, Douglas Emhoff, visited the state on July 31 to take part in a rally promoting reproductive freedom.

Under Biden admin so far, there has been record 19 million small biz apps

The plan, which Ms. Harris will announce during a speech in New Hampshire, would allow new companies to deduct up to $50,000 in start-up expenses, a campaign official said. The move would increase by tenfold a $5,000 deduction that companies can now claim for expenses, like advertising and salaries, that they incurred before they started operating.

The goal of the proposed expansion is to help start 25 million small businesses if Ms. Harris is elected. In New Hampshire, she will also discuss creating a new fund to help small businesses expand, easing regulations and simplifying the taxes small businesses owe by creating a universally available deduction, the campaign official said.

Harris will head to PA tomorrow and stay there until Tuesday's debate in Philadelphia to prepare, a source familiar with the schedule confirms to @NewsNation

She is expected to do some stops in the Pittsburgh area during her time there.
