(19,170 posts)Something along the lines of - you may not be into politics but one day politics is going to pay attention.....to you.
The idea being some politician(s) were going to enact some policy that would be detrimental to you ie you didn't help to try, and defeat it by electing or supporting people who'd work to protect you opposing Law X.

(30 posts)3-4 counties a day.
Shapiro should be part of Harris mailers to answer Trump lies about Harris, speak about the positives that dispel lies. With Shapiro and Harris on the mailers.

(145,230 posts)There are 67 Counties here so even doing 4 counties a day, it would take over 2 weeks straight, 7 days/week (about 17 days), and that is not counting travel time (it's about a 6 - 7 hour drive from the eastern border to the western border).

(30 posts)I would do governor business on the bus. Two morning rallies. Two Afternoon rallies.
3 days a week. Would only take 5 1/2 weeks to complete the schedule. Would have a couple weeks or so to spare before the election, depending on when it starts.
It is going to be won in Pa. Visiting every county in Pa would help win over the undecided and GOTV.
Walz is a teacher and is used to talking on the same subject on the same day to many classes. Shapiro and Casey could take 3 days of the week to join Walz to boost Harris. To pass on this opportunity is known in football language as not leaving everything on the field. Walz and by extension - Shapiro - are expected to leave it all on the field. Visiting the 67 counties would be leaving it all on the field.
How the MAGA are strategizing in Pa has to be countered. Walz is a great speaker. You have Shapiro as Governor, high approval ratings. Have popular Casey join too. Join as a team and reach every part of Pa.
Visiting every county has been done before in past campaigns in various elections/primaries. Especially in smaller states.

(145,230 posts)in addition to PA and that is WI and MI - all after decades of being reliably blue, post-Raygun, except for that one anomalous 2016 election.
So they can't spend over a month here in PA and ignore WI & MI, let alone needing to keep AZ, NV, and even GA in the blue column.
Fetterman has been to all 67 counties, twice, but it took him months and months to do it the last time (the first time was at least a year for his cannabis legalization "listening tour" ).
Hillary lost PA by 44,000 in 2016 but Biden won PA by 81,000 votes (and that was during a pandemic with less than 1/2 of the normal polling locations open here in Philly), so we are not so much an issue as a state like WI. As long as the urban areas turn out in force, we normally overwhelm the rest of the state.
Even MI had Hillary lose by something like 10,000 votes in 2016 but Biden won by 150,000 in 2020.

(34,848 posts)I'm not sure campaigning every day 24/7 is what the people of the state would like to see their governor doing. I'm sure he'll do what he can, but that seems like a really big ask.

(145,230 posts)and when I saw the clips yesterday and today, I was happy. Erie was one of the blue counties that flipped red in 2016 but flipped back in 2020. The city itself is blue, but sits in a red county, and if the city turnout isn't there, something like a 2016 can happen.
Walz might really appeal to the rural red area dwellers to add to the fired up city.
