Catholic voters moving to Harris.....
Vice President Kamala Harris is leading former President Donald Trump among Catholic voters, according to a new poll released two months before the election.
The EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research poll, conducted between Aug. 28 and Aug. 30, found that 50.1% of Catholic voters said they would support Harris, while 42.7% said they would support Trump. One percent said they would support someone else, and 6.2% said they are undecided.
The poll also found that 48.7% of Catholic voters disapprove of the job President Joe Biden is doing as president, while 41.2% approve. Biden dropped out of the race in July and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee.
The findings come as Trump has ramped up religious discourse on the campaign trail. In 2020, he won 50% of support from Catholics while Biden won 49% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.
In an effort to shore up Catholic support, Trump announced the “Catholics for Trump” coalition Wednesday, aimed at “safeguarding the vital principles of religious liberty and defending family values that President Donald J. Trump has ardently championed,” according to a press release.
