'Grand Canyon-sized chasm': How this MAGA candidate proves 'the problem with judging'https://www.alternet.org/mark-robinson-maga-2669153248/
North Carolina Republican gubernatorial Mark Robinson, journalist Billy Ball writes in a Monday MSNBC op-ed "has built his brand on judging, more than any politician Ive seen in my two decades covering politics in" the state.
"Women, liberals, public school teachers, atheists, LGBTQ+ people, Jewish people, poor people few have been spared Robinsons righteous wrath," the columnist writes.
Pointing to a report published by a state online news outlet called The Assembly last week, Ball notes "that in the 1990s and early 2000s, before Robinson was running for any offices, he would visit adult video stores in his hometown as often as five times a week."
He writes:
According to the report which Robinsons campaign denied, calling the reporters 'degenerates' he would bring in pizza from the Papa Johns restaurant he worked at and 'preview' pornography in a booth inside the store. Multiple employees said he was a memorable customer. He was gregarious and funny, they said, albeit homophobic, occasionally cracking jokes at the expense of the stores gay clientele.
"Voters will forgive bad policies, dumb statements, even crimes, but they rarely forgive humiliation," Ball emphasizes. "They wont see the big, strong MAGA superhero Robinson says he is. Theyll see a gay-hating man taking a pizza into a private booth in a windowless adult video store to watch lesbian porn."
Ball notes, "In politics, theres the person politicians say they are, the person people perceive them to be, and the person they really are. You hope theres not much of a gap between them, but with Robinson this 'born again' Christian who, according to his memoir, found religion in the 1980s its a Grand Canyon-sized chasm."

(92 posts)Mark Robinson is a politician who is NOT MORAL, and those who vote for his opponent are the moral leaders who are standing on the moral compass of God!

Do I have to tell you that this is snark? Or is that pretty obvious.
He will get his ass handed to him in a big big way come November. Unfortunately, we're so gerrymandered, that the Senate and the house will be both Republican.

(2,366 posts)Im bisexual. Ive been in my fair share of x-rated video stores. This is a generalization, but you dont rent a movie and a booth to watch it alone. Those booths are roomy for a reason. You are there expecting company. Period. Either a friend you have an agreement to meet there, or a friend you make at the time.
I was expecting Jon Lovett (who happens to be gay) mention this on one of his podcasts, but so far silence
Its like taking the explanation I wasnt playing footsie either the guy in the stall next to me; I take a wide stance in restrooms! seriously.
I think the people who've never been don't know, and the people who know ain't sayin'! Until you.
The nightly pizza though... that's just gross. That's what your car's for. (Unless it was crucial to his experience?)
