1. It's human. Grass-roots.
2. It's a man saying, "you can support the woman." to other men.
3. It shows their commitment, and their willingness to be "with the people". Not sitting in some high gold-plated tower.
4. It tells regular people their votes count.
5. Humility.

So many levels.
