The Guardian: JD Vance admits he is willing to create stories to get media attentionRepublican vice-presidential candidate defends spreading false, racist claims demonizing Haitian immigrants
In a stunning admission, Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance said he is willing to create stories on the campaign trail while defending his spreading false, racist rumors of pets being abducted and eaten in a town in his home state of Ohio.
Vances remarks came during an appearance on Sunday on CNNs State of the Union, where he said he felt the need to create stories so that the media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people.
Asked by the CNN host Dana Bash whether the false rumors centering on Springfield, Ohio, were a story that you created, Vance replied, Yes! He then said the claims were rooted in accounts from constituents and that he as well as the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, had spoken publicly about them to draw attention to Springfields relatively large Haitian population.

How can one possibly convince people who still believe someone even when he admits that he's lying?

(1,051 posts)If your cat disappears, wouldn't you call the local police or sheriff? If you didn't get an adequate response, you might take the issue to the town council or mayor.
But he claims his constituents contacted him, their US Senator. I wonder if they also went to their House Representative.
He duly considered the magnitude of this issue and had no choice but to amplify the problem by bringing it to the national stage. What a stand up guy!
