I actually feel sorry for storeowners. All they want to do is make a living. It doesnt help the residents of the area or anybody buying at any 7-11 in the country as prices will go up. This is unacceptable. Sorry but it is.

About 50 juveniles ransacked a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles on Friday night, the LAPD confirmed.
The department said officers received a call around 7:25 p.m. that about 50 kids biked to the 7-Eleven located on the border of Beverly Hills at 8500 W Olympic Blvd. and stole items from the store.
The underage suspects fled the scene on their bikes before officers arrived.
An Instagram account named Street People of Beverly Hills posted videos that show the crowd of minors biking into the parking lot, running inside and escaping with their hands and pockets full of snacks and other items.

When consequences don't happen, bad behavior will happen all too often.

(14,594 posts)It's to bad they can't figure out who started this plan to organize a crime mob and do a high profile arrest to discourage copy-cats.
The reporter on the video says this is the second time the store was hit, last time was in August.

Crime is significantly down in LA.

(3,438 posts)Who are you arguing with?
Do you think there's someone around here who's going to spring to the defense of the hooligans?
Do you think there's some group hereabouts who "actually" doesn't feel sorry for the storeowners?
As ever, admire your work!

(26,314 posts)If the owner defended their property and ability to make a living they most likely would be bitterly reviled and the excuses would flow for the hooligans.

(3,438 posts)It's a rough and bitter one.
Here, however, you're operating with at least two levels of hypothesis: (1) What the OP intended and (2) What would happen if the circumstances were different.
That's some admirable clairvoyance.

(20,392 posts)Unless there is someone on DU who has defended smash and grab shoplifting, isn't it obvious that this is against the law? Has anyone that would like to mention said that this was justified?

(3,438 posts)I'd previously overlooked the amazing artfulness of "it doesn't help the residents of the area."
Because, like, everyone but this brave OP is talking about how kids stealing from a 7-11 totally helps the residents of the area.
I believe the OP may be up for some sort of award for the highest density of straw men in 100 words ever.

(1,497 posts)No, this is not good, and I share concern for any small-business owners who are victimized by such crimes.
I would feel better about it if they targeted large corporate businesses who support Republicans,
or Republican party headquarters buildings themselves--
but they would probably find little to eat there.

(3,438 posts)Very easy questions, asked by me or others, that should be no problem for you to help us understand:
1. Do you think there is anyone here who does not "actually" feel sorry for [the] storeowners?
2. Do you think someone is arguing that this helps the residents of the area?
3. Do you think someone here believes that this will help anybody buying at a 7-11 in the country?
4. Do you think there's a person you're addressing here who thinks this is perfectly acceptable?
You're a deep thinker! Maybe too deep for the rest of us!!!
Can you help us understand?
Performance art requires at least a small connection with reality, I think. Do you disagree?
