If something happened to Trump right now, before Election Day, the Republican National Committee would be entitled to nominate a replacement candidate for President (it wouldn't be Vance). That last minute replacement might be a more formidable opponent; he wouldn't be burdened with 94 felony convictions, a verdict of sexual assault, a history of bankruptcies and swindles, or conspicuous mental problems. And he'd require a dramatic change in Democratic strategy. In other words, a last minute replacement has a better chance than Trump of winning. So let's not wish something awful happens to Trump ... until after Election Day.
