On Facebook. Yes, I know, but it is what it is:

The pets we received yesterday from Asheville Humane Society via Bissel Pet Foundation’s emergency rescue flight are doing very well, and they are each so sweet and wonderful! They are now ready to be in comfortable homes with families. Stop in to foster or adopt any time we are open - no need to call ahead.

I will stop in tomorrow. I hope if you are in the area, you will too. I know they were not taking in animals, due to being full. These animals have been through a lot. I hate to think of any of them being put down.

If you are not in the area, there was a post earlier about helping the shelter in Asheville rebuild. There is price matching for donations right now. Please, please help!

The Burlington shelter has a special - $20 fee for any adopted pet. The Asheville shelter needs cash to rebuild. There is a price match going on, up to $500,000.

They did not belong to families. They were orphans before the storm. The shelter was destroyed during the storm. Luckily, in the two hours proceeding the storm, the shelter sent out an SOS, and people came to get the pets so they would be safe. The shelter said if people had not helped, every pet would have perished. It was all under water. Bissel helped evacuate some of the pets to shelters. They are looking for foster families or forever homes for the babies. None of them were adopted or had homes.

Sadly, I am not able to take any animals. I have too many cats (outdoors) and a dog. Not physically nor financially able to do it. My heart breaks, but it is what it is.

I hope others in the area can help.
