The OSS psychological profile of Hitler described his use of the big lie:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

Something occurred to me as I read your post. The NEVERS… Trump has never admitted he has been wrong, frankly, nobody is never not wrong. Perhaps the way to wake up his cult following is to press them on when Trump has been wrong. When they say never, the response would need to explain a person would have to be PERFECT in have never been wrong and because humans are not perfect, he must have been wrong. Then hit them with just how very wrong TSP is!

that casts off the Crazy! Trump costume at the end of the day and calmly plots his next move and plans Crazy! Trump’s script. Crazy! Trump is who he is. Things happen, and he reacts to them instantly and instinctively. The analysis of his “rules” is done after the fact by rational people desperately trying to understand how such a loathsome creature continues to attract support.
