A beautiful beach body and a mentally disabled opponent. One rough hour of police retaliation to stop criminals. A million Rambos in Afghanistan. Haitian immigrants eating the dogs and eating the cats. Death by electrocution versus death by shark. Insane asylums and, of course, the late, great Hannibal Lecter.
These are just a few of the recent remarks made by one of two major candidates for president of the United States. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has spent years saying the unsayable to entertain, goad and grab attention. But his pronouncements over the past few weeks have plumbed new depths of absurdity and incoherence.
Trump, 78, increasingly slurs or stumbles over his words, raising fears over cognitive decline. He is slipping in polls against Kamala Harris and knows that defeat could lead to criminal trials and even prison. After a decade of dominating American politics, critics say, Trump could be in the throes of a final meltdown.
His verbal output now is absolute batshittery, according to Tara Setmayer, a former Republican communications director on Capitol Hill. These are not the musings of a well-adjusted adult. He demonstrates daily how unfit he is to have the most powerful position in the world.

(2,099 posts)but we need to reach the ill-informed voter and have the media relentlessly focus on the Trump decline.
Two articles appeared today, and I posted both. The other was the N Y Times.

What a nightmare for the planet..

Just Where the F*ck would we get "a million Rambos"? Consider that there are about 1.3 million active duty in ALL services (including the Coast Guard); add in ALL part-timers like National Guard and Reserves and it goes over 2 million. (Summary of data)
Only someone who never served in the military and is completely devoid of clues, would think you could get a million Rambos out of that. Oh sure, most of our military troops are fine folks (except for many being deluded by right-wing content on the military media channels); but not "Rambos". Of those who qualify (e.g. Special Forces), many are already stationed in crucial missions around the world.
Well the whole comment was probably completely insane anyway - I missed it, so don't know exactly what he was going to do with his million Rambos, never mind the consequences - but the logistical ridiculousness of it sort of jumped out at me, and I literally

I really think the filthy-rich oligarchs need to find themselves another psychopath to use. This one is too old and worn out to be of any use.
Reminds me of my Grandpa in his
final days, if he had been a nasty, lying psychopath.
