he had a point this morning on Jen Psaki's show. He did criticize Harris/Walz for not hitting DonOld hard enough on his blatant desire to be an effing dictator. We (myself included) can be thin skinned about criticism of Dems, especially considering the sanewashing of R's, but in this case I think he was spot on.
He did, however, reserve his most contemptuous remarks for the media, specifically the elite media. He imitated them whining about lack of access to Kamala, or lack of "specifics" when our entire form of government and the constitution are at risk. He also said that every day cheato is out there saying he is going to use the military against American citizens while the media yawns.
He is the first person who has put into words what's been keeping me up at night. He thinks the reason that DonOld is telegraphing these outrageous goals is so that if he "wins" he can say the people voted for this. So the corporate media better wake up and help voters see what is really at stake in this election.

(22,868 posts)If he gets elected he will do his purge of ALL the news media personalities and reporters and kill or jail them.
The prison industrial complex will multiply like crazy when he starts imprisoning his perceived enemies.
After watching the documentary yesterday Night and Fog on TCM about concentration camps I am becoming more scared as we get closer to the election.
Im dead meat because I have posted a ton of negative stuff about him on Facebook. And probably on an enemies list somewhere.

In fact,I posted as much a while back.
Carville had the nickname ole snakehead.
Well, I'd like to see some fangs out before the day of reckoning.
If you're not ruthless,your toothless.

Metaphorical
(2,124 posts)I think the news media is wearing some very serious blinkers, because they expect that a second Trump term will be like the first. It won't.
One of the things that I think Trump has learned is that he doesn't have time to waste, which is why, despite having full control of the House and the Senate at the start of his first term, he was particularly ineffective. He was also trying to at least pretend to be president, even if he failed spectacularly at it.
What he has learned since then is that his political opponents have teeth and are not afraid to use them. Keeping out of jail is no longer the objective - he knows that in four years, he will be in exactly the same position he's in today even if he manages to pardon himself.
My expectation is that he goes full dictator. He has a list of political opponents as well as people currently serving time (Steve Bannon for instance) and they will be out free within a week of his regaining the office. He will use his revitalized forces to begin a campaign of bombings against news media, always deniable but enough so that the message becomes clear - say nothing but the sweetest words about Hair Fuhrer, or your studios are next. We'll have one crisis after another, each of which is intended to cow or eliminate the competition outright. He will purge the military, run a terror campaign against judges, then find one reason or another to arrest anyone for the crime of being liberal. University faculty will undergo "ideology reviews", and those that have even vaguely leftish leanings will be terminated, regardless of tenure. I'm guessing that controls will be placed on the Internet, and that he will push for laws that will make it illegal for women to vote or hold political office. He will also push (with some success) to create a blanket discretionary fund under his and only his control, as a prelude to taking full control of the government taxation system.
He will go overboard, of course - Trump has no filters, and will eventually overreach before there will be an assassination attempt that doesn't miss, but until then he will do an incredible amount of damage.

(1,719 posts)They give people the idea that Trump is kidding and the Dems are hyperventilating over nothing. The fact that most of his officials from his first term think he's not kidding should be a clue. The fact that Darth - Dick Chaney himself is out there should be a clue.

(56,242 posts)They hi9re very smart analysts to try to "read the room" as accurately as they can, and try to tailor their programming to conform to their audience. If their audience is dumb, and their advertisers do well tailoring their ads to the dumb, then they do well, making money for themselves and their advertisers.
It is the (unfortunately) very successful) right wing media who is responsible for the dumbing down of the American public, along with Republican state governments, school boards and (anti-)education secretaries (like Trump's DeVos) who oversee the dumbing down of our children, or, at least, try to. Republicans can't make us all stupid, but they CAN try to make us all ignorant.
