The reason to vote early if you can is because if someone happens where you

cannot make it to the polls on Election Day, because of something unexpected event, this insured your vote is in. You also don’t have to worry about last minute crowds or lines at the polls on Election Day.

I told someone that I was voting early "in case I get hit by a bus." This knowledgeable person informed me that states vary whether your vote will count or not if you actually die before election day. In mine, they do check the death indexes against the voter rolls. (Another point to support the argument that reports of election fraud are exaggerated, btw.) But in Georgia, for example, they do not do that check. So Jimmy Carter's vote will be counted if he votes and then decides to go join Rosalyn (whether on a cloud with a harp or dispersed back into the stars).

I still did it because even if I survive the bus accident, it would probably be quite painful to get to the election site around the corner from my house.

I mean seriously--catastrophizing much? What? Me worry?

Voting early is the way to go. No doubt about that. I hope Democrats everywhere--and all other decent humans--will get out there ASAP and get 'er done. Save democracy. Make Trump a loser again. Send the would-be dictatorship to infinity and beyond.

It would had been before 2009.

From about 2009 til 2020 I voted by mail due to working for the county party to assign election workers at the polling places.

There was one year I voted early in person and I had a line outside the building and wait time was about 30 minutes.
