NHC: Season's next tropical depression could form by end of the week in the eastern Atlantic
A system of low pressure in the eastern tropical Atlantic could form into the seasons next tropical depression by the end of the week, the National Hurricane Center said.
A well-defined area of low pressure located several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands currently has a limited chance of development over the next couple days, but it could become more organized by the end of the week, NHC said.
This system is currently embedded in an unfavorable environment and development is not anticipated over the next couple of days, forecasters said. However, this system is forecast to move generally westward to west-southwestward, and environmental conditions could become more favorable for additional development by the mid to latter part of this week.
Forecasters said the system could become the seasons next tropical depression as it begins moving west-northwestward and approaches the Leeward Islands.
