protests over the next 3 weeks will impact with voters. Maybe a moratorium should be declared?
Case in point - Fox22, Bangor, Me put a promo on at the end of the Detroit-Dallas game on their news coverages of protests in Bangor today. JFC, I hate single issue protest events that Fox will happily use to find and frame an anti-Democratic angle to broadcast.

(8,724 posts)I wont care if he deports them. The math on this is simple. The problem is also somewhat simple. Give back the hostages, renounce violence and try to help the rebuild process.

For your other point, sure, but hamas, hezbolah, etc. have made it clear they want to destroy Israel, and kill Jews. There is no ambiguity there.
October 7 would not have happened if they wanted to renounce violence, and they would not have taken hostages, raped, tortured, and killed civilians.

(1,378 posts)He can send them to Gitmo and claim that all protesters are Hamas. Oh yes, he can. He is immune. Rashida is so stupid.

(1,160 posts)The theme of migrants and mass deportation ran throughout Trump's speech. He said that immigrants to the United States are "the worst criminals in the world" and "the most violent people on Earth." Later in his speech, he said that Haitian-American immigrants in Springfield would have to be deported to Haiti in spite of their legal status.

(12,570 posts)I know emotions are running high - but your claims are ridiculous, AND illogical (in that anyone not voting for Harris, particularly in a swing state, is de facto a Trump ally) Come back to earth, friend.

(28,849 posts)Operation Wetback was an immigration law enforcement initiative created by Joseph Swing, a retired United States Army lieutenant general and head of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The program was implemented in June 1954 by U.S. Attorney General Herbert Brownell.[1] The short-lived operation used military-style tactics to remove Mexican immigrantssome of them American citizensfrom the United States.

(6,308 posts)The answer, of course, is that Netanyahu and Likud want the Republicans to take control of the Oval Office and Congress.
There are three weeks left in which to deny the hard-line Isreali warhawks their desired result. Once their electoral goal has been thwarted, then it's time for all who are horrified by the killing in Gaza to apply maximum pressure to our newly-elected political leaders.

(28,849 posts)We are not in a position to win the white house, Green Party surrogate Kshama Sawant declared on Monday, but we do have a real opportunity to win something historic. We could deny Kamala Harris the state of Michigan. [The crowd cheers.] And the polls show that most likely Harris cannot win the election without Michigan.

(5,529 posts)They could be assembled using, I dunno, portable fencing and located out of sight and earshot from any campaign venues. As long as they're constructed next to a street it would even be possible to do something like park buses in front of them to make sure they're out of sight! They'd need a catchy name, though, to soften the quashing of free speech. Maybe call them "First Amendment Zones," or something along those lines.
And if Harris/Walz lose Michigan and places like the Little Palestine area of Chicago, it's the campaign's own fault. Palestinian- and Arab-American individuals and groups have been trying for literal weeks to meet with the campaign and have gotten zero response. (I would argue, though, that no response is actually a response.) Giving the impression that you don't give a shit about listening to the people whose vote you're seeking is one of the most politically idiotic things I've ever seen.
Edit: There are 200,000 Arab Americans in Michigan--they also have the largest Lebanese population in the US--so treating them as if their opinions don't matter is practically suicidal from an electoral standpoint.

(5,529 posts)that shes met with all the individuals and groups that want to speak with her? Uncommitteds founder said on October 2 and October 10 that Harris has been asked to speak with people who have relatives in Gaza & Lebanon and thus far shes ignored those requests unless somethings changed in the last four days.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/5/28/trump-promises-crackdown-on-pro-palestinian-protests-if-elected
"Earlier this month, the likely Republican nominee told a small group of predominantly Jewish donors that he would expel student demonstrators, who he claimed were part of a radical revolution, from the US if he is elected, according to a report by The Washington Post released on Monday."
If you get me elected, and you should really be doing this
were going to set that movement back 25 or 30 years, Trump said, according to the report, quoting people at the meeting who spoke on the condition of anonymity."
