How are you supposed to know???

Yesterday there was a thread about the Trump rally attendees who were stuck waiting for busses. Somewhere along the thread someone pointed out that there were no links and we really don't know what happened. Good point. Today I Googled it...

USA Today - Thousands of Trump rally attendees stranded

NBC News - Hundreds of Trump rally supporters stuck

Come on guys!!!! Don't dive down this rabbit hole!!!!

that the rally had 50,000 people show up, but then again, they did not have a real count. He said this twice. Then, at one point when the press asked what happened to the stranded rally goers, he said they were all gone. I find it hard to believe that incontinent Trump attracted that many people. But, I have to admit, the entertainment would be to wait for a mighty fart. Not that I enjoy that. It's just that it's the only content he brings with him. Might be able to sell the bytes.

I'm not sure why he came back to California. He isn't wanted here. He's not going to flip California, And, this is where he promised to bully Newsom. Go away, you evil asshole.

And it was not full. 50,000 is the usual Trump bullshit number.

4. The people being stranded was true - it was because Trump didn't pay the bus company

Wesley, contacting the bus company, reason why there were no buses, company needed payment prior and the campaign would not pay them for the services. So they refused service. It was absolutely their right to do so, but sadly you people were hurt in the process. Hopefully you’ve learned a hard lesson about trump, he only looks out for himself, always has always will.
I do hope everyone got home safely.

6. So how are we to know this is a trusted source? Given that USA Today and NBC can't agree on some facts. nt

https://www.ocregister.com/2024/10/14/trump-coachella-rallygoers-stranded-in-dark-miles-from-their-cars-after-speech-reports-say/

Some key excerpts:

Officer David Torres, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, said via email that “there were no incidents in this area that CHP handled.”

“There became an issue with the drivers being over hours due to the traffic delays that prevented them from driving, leaving (the sheriff’s department) to transport the visitors themselves,” Torres said, noting the California Department of Transportation limits the number of hours bus drivers can be on the road.

So apparently the bus drivers had driven their legal limit of hours before all people were returned to the parking lots. And the Trump campaign did not make arrangements to make sure there were drivers available to shuttle the attendees back. (Note: this is not necessarily inconsistent with that prior tweet)

County officials referred questions about the buses to the Trump campaign, which did not immediately respond Monday, Oct. 14, to a request for comment.

Seems like confirmation that the campaign screwed up and didn't make sure they would have buses available to return attendees to their cars. This was clearly totally on the Trump Campaign.

8. Oh, and videos posted by some of the stranded seemed to show well over 1000 people stuck waiting

... but not to the point of subscribing to dozens of local newspapers. I prefer the non-profits that are working to support local media.
