Ex-CIA Director: Vladimir Putin Cultivated Donald Trump as 'Source'

Former CIA director Leon Panetta said that Russian President Vladimir Putin views former President Donald Trump as a "source" that he can use to his benefit.

Appearing on the One Decision podcast, Panetta discussed allegations in journalist Bob Woodward's new book War that Trump and Putin had as many as seven private phone calls since early 2021, after Trump left office.

Panetta said that it would be "very unusual" for the Russian president to be engaged in communication with a former POTUS.
He added that Putin "knows how to work a source, and he's got a source that is very near the top in this country, he, himself is going to engage that source."

"That really is what the bottom line is — is that Trump has turned into a source for Putin, and somebody who can help him manipulate what he wants to get done," Panetta said.

Panetta, who was D/CIA between 2009 and 2011, said that it would be concerning if the pair remained in private communication.

"The mere fact that a former president of the US is having regular conversation with our primary adversary raises real questions about where is his basic loyalty. Is it really to the United States of America? Or is it to Donald Trump?" he said.

Speaking on the podcast, Panetta described watching Trump publicly side with Russia over the FBI regarding election interference claims during a meeting with Putin in 2018.

Panetta said that in that moment Trump "basically said he trusted Russian intelligence more than he trusted United States intelligence." He said this led him to believe that Trump was a "very dangerous person."

Trump has continued to compliment the Russian president, publicly praising him as "smart," even after the Russian leader's invasion of Ukraine.

Donald Trump and disgraced retired US Army General Michael Flynn remain the two greatest threats to US national security.

In discernable respects, Putin's Russia has bought out America's interest in the GOP. Conservatism limps along like the clueless pretender it always was. It has been gut-shot by Trump's treason.

On the other hand, Democrats are more focused, embracing their innate homogeneity with more aplomb than I've seen since the last FDR loyalists left the arena. Their only viable opposition is the strange fantasy of the neo-Confederacy. This election is a true test of human will. It is the eternal, desperate battle of rationalism vs the allure of thoughtless idolatry.

This is how Vidkun Quisling of Norway started out:

And this is how he ended up. Look how the MP on the left stares at him.

The only thing positive thing that came out of this creature: "Quisling" was added to the English lexicon as synonymous for a notorious collaborator.

...is when Drumpf committed treason in front of the world on camera.

He comes out of a meeting with Putin that lasted 2 hours and to this day no one knows what they discussed.
He walks out of the room beside Vlad with his shoulders all hunched over looking down like someone who just took it in the bum. The walk of shame.

Then says our intelligence agencies say Putin interfered with the election and he says he just asked him in their little conversation and he told me he didn't do it, and so I believe him, he didn't do it.

Giving aid and comfort to the enemy on a world stage, what a treasonous fuck. He does it right in front of everyone.
Russia has been our enemy FOREVER, and yet dumb fuck says they're OK, and so the GOP says yeah, we've been friends for a long time.

WTF!

But Dumb Donnie thinks he's greatly respected by the world's dictators. It's the same with his "love letters" from Kim Jong Un.
All it takes is false praise and sweet lies from the most reprehensible dictators on the planet and Chump is putty in their hands.
NO ONE respects Trump as a leader. He's their sock puppet.

Arrest followed by punishment for Democrats, etc.

I’m about winning. We have to win. And these people are already up to no good. So, we gotta win first. We win, and then, “Katy, bar the door.” OK? Believe me: The gates of hell — my hell — will be unleashed.

Correlating the calls with Trump's actions/words are difficult because we don't have the exact dates of those communications in open source reporting. If someone leaks the DTGs of the seven calls to the press, civilian analysts will then examine what Trump said and did immediately afterwards.
