I used to make a distinction between the sleezy newsprint displayed at check-out and best-fit for wrapping fish and the "quality" media (NYT, WaPo, WSJ, etc.). The former used to have a monopoly on killing stories (a la fg's lurid affairs). These days "they all do it," almost to the exclusion of actual journalism.

where they show Howard Dean steaming that his career ended while Trump can do anything. Either a good imitator, or better yet Dean himself. I can see him trying out Trump's attempt at dancing, pumping his fists and looking pleased with himself. There are som amny places to go with the Trump music town hall, but I'd really like to see Dean in it. Maybe a real scream in there somewhere.

He was depressed for a short while, got over it before most of us did. He won the DNC chair shortly after that, and was the most successful one we ever had. He was again disappointed when Obama appointed Rahm as WH chief of staff, which meant he wouldn’t get his coveted (and deserved!!) position as Secretary of HHS. He got over that, too. As for being President, he says, “I could have done the job. I didn’t the chance. That’s the way it goes.” He took it all much better than many of his supporters did, myself included.

While insinuating only a crazy person would behave or sound that way.

And then, there's Trump in full meltdown every day and we basically get a shrug and yawn.

I understand that Kamala has to stay focused on the mission and message right now, but I would love to see her - after she wins - push to bring back the fairness doctrine and explore ways we can bring responsibility back to journalism. I know we have to tread carefully with the First Amendment, but the sane-washing in the name of their desired "horserace" is irresponsible to say the least. Maybe an investigatory commission to study the effects of media consolidation and ownership under the antitrust laws?

I went to a town hall that was held in iowa … he was taking questions from the audience and I had the opportunity to ask if he would work to bring it back.

He was surprised by my question and said he had not thought about it, but he would do some studying about it.

I never knew what the resolution was for him. I am not certain that it is really on anyone’s radar.

Sigh

That's what i dont get. I was a member of the Dean forum back then. I also recall Kerry supporters coming in telling us to get our heads out of asses and throw our support behind the only candidate who had a chance of winning which, in their opinion, was Kerry . To be fair, some did ask nicely.

He basically lived there, his loss was catastrophic. The campaign was basically premised on riding the momentum into NH, where Kerry, from neighboring MA, was heavily favored.

After losing Iowa, he had no path forward. Whatever you want to call his Iowa night rant, it sure didn’t help, but his goose was already cooked.
