And he and the other questioners are asking more sensible questions than most of the journalists at M$Greedia
This is excellent. She is answering questions from lots of different constituencies.
Meanwhile the CONvicted felon is refusing interviews.

If you're not, you should rethink your posting strategy.

(3,041 posts)The other person made a claim and Im asking how they know it.

(70,492 posts)This is a discussion forum. Every opinion is not required to be based in specific, detailed fact.
It was obviously an opinion.
I don't think people come to DU to be lectured at.
SocialDemocrat61
(3,041 posts)It was stated as if it were a fact. And I just asked a simple question for clarification.

(24,741 posts)Of course context matters too, so it's not always the case, but those are exceptions. One might want to begin from the premise that such a claim is opinion by default, and augment expectation based on context.
Anyway, while a poster might indeed have supporting evidence for such claims, demanding that such evidence be brought forth typically invites consideration as landing somewhere on the challenge-rudeness spectrum, as well as being a waste of time. Fortunately this forum tends toward the factual, and people who present ideas are often forthcoming with supporting evidence and details.
Rather than demanding evidence, I'd suggest a gentler approach to inquiry: e.g., "what led you to that idea?"
SocialDemocrat61
(3,041 posts)I dont understand why everyone is getting so defensive about it.

(24,741 posts)Actually, upon reviewing this sub-thread, you could consider it a compliment that people are so interested in engaging with you substantively, rather than simply flagging your post for moderation and/or ignoring it. Clearly, you are regarded as someone with potential to become a strong contributor to future conversations. This is, oddly enough, a Good Thing (although it might not seem that way to you now).
I, too, have made posts on various forums which resulted in what seemed at the time to be over-the-top responses, in which I received a disproportionate level of ... shall we say ... "corrective feedback". I strongly recommend paying attention to it, or at least noting that it occurred and what preceded it.

(7,297 posts)If I type something in the white box, its my opinion. This is the 6th time youve asked me! How do you know just like my lady friends 4 year-old.

(3,041 posts)And I never claimed that I knew what she wants to say or not. I never make any claim about what other people think. I speak for myself and no one else.

(3,041 posts)For example, you stated:
That sounds like a statement of fact. But if you had phrased it, She's doing great, but if I were her, Id want to yell, "Why are so many idiots falling for trump's crud?" That makes it clear its an opinion.

(3,041 posts)So its clear your stating an opinion, especially when youre claiming what other people think or know or want to yell.

(29,215 posts)I do see the value in showing him as he is in real time. The more people see of that mess completely unfiltered, the better for us.
