the pollsters and some pundits are full of it when they say that 10% less African Americans are supporting VP Harris then they did President Biden in 2020. Nonsense. There is no way15% or higher of the African Americans will support trump, and VP Harris will get at least as much support President Biden had in 2020, and I believe actually more.
VP Harris is doing terrific on the questions and answers. She is doing a lot of work with these callers correcting the misinformation that has been circulated.
One caller accusing her of playing "identity politics", and she responded absolutely not, and listing that before running for President how she worked to help fight against the discrimination against black Americans on issues such as being refused loans, or paying higher interest, etc.
If there is any undecided African Americans if they should or shouldn't vote, this Charlamagne town hall is going to help.

She is so personable, it is hard for me to believe that the country has this many people supporting such a hateful, ugly man.

(95,372 posts)especially among those supposed "young black men", if this conversation doesn't convince them that VP Harris has got their back, nothing will, but I think they will, and that false talking point that young black men are not enthusiastic about her, I don't buy it.

(2,366 posts)When talking about the specific black men in question, people tend to use the general term "black men" when in fact they aren't talking about Eric Holder, or, Derrick Pitts, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, or Walter Mosely, etc. They're talking about a small portion of the black community which does make a difference in close electoral margins, but the name clumping of "black men" is particularly unhelpful.

(3,686 posts)I think the OP was trying to say that for 95% of Black voters there is no way that they would support Trump. Meaning that no more than 5% would support Trump.
People have posted polls claiming that the Black vote will be 78% for Harris (or something similar) and the OP is saying that at least 95% will support her. At least I think thats what is being said.

(95,372 posts)more support than Biden did, and it could be quite high.

(15,942 posts)There were good questions, but slso a surprising amount of misinformation tinged with a bit of CT from both the host and the callers.
Harris gave detailed and thoughtful answers to the questions I heard. She did well.

(15,942 posts)that were CT ish. Harris corrected those, but it made me wonder what he says to his listeners.

(2,366 posts)When he asked his journalistically lazy question "what went wrong with immigration under you guys" the Vice President set him straight immediately. I kind of wish she had informed him that migration over what is now that border has been occurring over thousands of years throughout every presidential administration and it just so happens that crossings from the South began increasing during the previous administration. Outside of catastrophic means, you don't stop human physics on a dime.

I'm glad Kamala did well!

I found Charlemagne to be a very engaging host. Not that I listen to him much to compare, but he seemed fair. It was interesting to listen to all the way around.

(849 posts)...but he's become a lot more serious as his visibility has risen. It seems like he understands he has responsibility he didn't have years ago. There's nothing wrong with tough, fair questions for those who run for office, and especially questions to try to get beyond their talking points.

(778 posts)for Kamala....because{{SHE'S A GIRL}}! As a member of the African diaspora, there's NO WAY IN HELL that enough black men, women, children or their pets would vote for that walking piece of garbage...NO WAY! Every group has mentally ill members, which would account for any of the knuckle dragging, mouth breathing useful idiots who, for whatever reason, would cast a vote for that crime against the Human Race. WE are not, as a group, STOOPID. Oragina has been open and above board, (probably the ONLY time he's been "honest & above board" about anything) and we believe he's is the abomination he has always been known to be.
Do NOT believe the claims that huge number of black men are breaking for trump, it ain't true. AS a black woman, I'm proud to say that WE are responsible for saving the country from out n'out facism & we will again. We'll vote for Kamala or anyone else who treats the working me, the poor, the elderly, children, the middle class, etc irregardless of the skin colour, the ethnic group they came from, ad nauseum. If a potential candidate stands up for treating people with respect, honour, kindness, etc, as a group, we'll vote for them but NOT for someone who has displayed disdain for us or anyone else, based on their ethnicity, language, religion, skin colour...NEVAH!
