Good news: Judge pauses GA rule that would require hand-counting ballots

A judge in Georgia has paused a new rule from the Georgia State Election Board that would have required officials to hand-count the number of ballots cast at each polling place.

“No training has been administered (let alone developed), no protocols for handling write-in ballots … have been issued, and no allowances have been made in any county’s election budget for additional personnel and other expenses required to implement the Hand Count Rule,” Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney wrote in his order Tuesday.

Note that the ridiculous board rule would only require counting the *number* of ballots, not determining who the votes were for. Still, it would slow the process down.

Wouldn't be surprised if appeal judge overrules, but just counting ballots isn't an impossible task. Do think EB waited Silent Type Oct 2024 #1

way too long to invoke the ruling. Should have been done months/years ago.

Counties like Dekalb and Gwinnett have been doing it for some time to ensure vote validity. Now, hand tabulating each office is all but impossible.

I lived in Georgia most of my life. Seems to me, that if anyone is going to cheat it's the white wingers. Counting ballots by hand is one small step toward proving to those who don't trust computers -- in other words, rubes -- that the results are fair. I get hard core white wingers will think trump won if Harris wins by an unimagninable land-slide.
