(73,018 posts)Harris has been building a blue wall in PA, Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina to get
to 270.
Blue Wave this year. Women are pissed and so are the men who love em.

(188,269 posts)As you watch the numbers in election night remember that CA OR WA and Hawaii are a solid 78 EC votes for us. Alaska has 3 and those arent going to be ours. Thats 28.888% of the needed 270.

(770 posts)Michigan says they wont have vote totals on election night
Pennsylvania says they wont have vote totals on election night
( under Pennsylvania law they cant even START counting mail-in ballots until after the polls close at 8:00PM.)
Georgia says they wont have vote totals on election night
Arizona says they wont have vote totals on election night
So, We might have projections Election night, but no one will be calling it until at LEAST the 6th. IMO

(168 posts)But watch North Carolina and Virginia.
Virginia should go for Harris so the margin will be key... Larger margin than Biden's 2020 win will be the tell.
North Carolina, if it show signs of flipping blue to Harris, or even better does flip, things will be going in the right direction.

(6,217 posts)If the networks and their decision desks see a trend or pattern, or exit polling that indicates what the remaining vote might look like, they may go ahead and call.
I don't expect to hear from Pennsylvania until at least two days out, since they can't count mail in ballots until the polls close on election day, and those ballots take time to open, verify and count. And they are expecting there will be something like 3 million of them, and they will contain Harris' winning margin, which I am guessing will be between 150,000 and 250,000 votes. If she is ahead before they start counting mail-ins, then that would be a bonus. Her margin in Georgia will be in Atlanta and its collar counties, which take a long time to count.
But, if she's far enough ahead on election night for decision desks to predict what the outcome will be, they can still call the state. And I think we will know, just after midnight on election day, where it's going.
If you want to feel good about this, watch Lawrence O'Donnell's show from last night. He had Sarah Longwell on last night, and she noted that, while the polls don't seem to be able to distinguish or note it, 11% of Pennsylvania Republicans are indicating they will vote Harris. Check the video, but I'm sure that's what she said. If polls are ignoring that, or can't factor that in, there's going to be a surprise on Nov. 5

(34,221 posts)I also think we are going to see a ton of energy from Marc Elias the moment the last poll closes through November 8th.

(19,023 posts)It will be clear that Harris is the popular vote winner on Election Night, but its likely that the EV winner wont be clear for several days because of razor thin margins that may rely on the counting of military and overseas ballots to finalize.
But the courtroom chaos sure to follow will keep the nation in suspense until the safe harbor date in December.
Fasten your seatbelts.

(2,210 posts)Are essentially already calling it for their guy. I expect the mainstream media will be somewhat reticent (for them anyway) to call anything close. If its close theyre going to delay, but if we get our supposed blue wave that we want so badly, I expect they will have to call it on Wednesday or be viewed as complicit.
