Voted "mail in ballot" in late September here in Maryland. I have since received emails stating my ballot has been received and counted.

(1,878 posts)For early voting tomorrow. We are both voting for Harris/Walz, and for Colin Allred. I'm not sure which gives me more pleasure, voting for Allred as Senator, or voting against Cruz.

(173,610 posts)I saw a really long line the first day of voting on Monday and skipped it because my mouth was numb from a dentist appointment; will be trying again......I WILL get it done, even if it means standing in the heat (will be 91 degrees).

(34,951 posts)We ranged from 1999 to 219 voters on Monday. I will drive over to the 219, no line site.

(55,742 posts)I like the whole process. My little dog would go with me and get an I VOTED sticker (poll workers. thought she was a cute voter) and all her stuffed animals have stickers on them from years of voting.
I taught my 1st grade students to vote and they loved it too. The whole thing was by them and it was their voices, not mine. They even went on a "field trip" to the polls in the school's lunchroom and got a mini lesson on voting. They listened so well and were genuinely interested in the voting booths, etc. When we voted in class it was anonymous (privacy boards) voting. The kids collected the "ballots" and they tallied the votes. Also, there was no talking. They each got a sticker in their native language, too. I still have them.
Since I live in CA I know my vote really won't have any impact so I wait until election day and walk to my local polling place and have a nice day, before waiting for all the votes to come in. That is the worst and most stressful part of it for me. I haven't watched the news since July but this stress is killing me. I'm down to 84 pounds...not good! If the fucking moron wins I will disappear completely.

(77,668 posts)Early in-person voting just began yesterday here.
I don't feel like there is any rush.
I know wo I'm voting fir & the vote doesn't count for any more if it's cast earlier.
I'll probably do it in the next couple days.
Recommended.

(16,532 posts)Both were so crowded we decided to give it a miss today and get a better plan in a day or so. We will probably end up driving to a further place that looks like it has fewer daily vote totals than our usual voting places. It's a college and I don't think a lot of people realize it's also an early voting site.
Kind of disappointing for us, but by the same token it is good to see that a lot of people are turning out.

(43,552 posts)Was afraid the line would be killer, but they moved it inside (used to go around the outside of the building) and added extra machines, so it was smooth, relatively quick (parking was harder) out in half and hour or so.
And I like to vote in person, which means I have to vote early (I'll be helping folks vote paper ballot on election day)

I'm filled with joy and excitement to cast my vote for Kamala Harris/Tim Walz. I'm getting restless over here!
